with a full round edge. Where added strength is needed, use a double wrap, threading the band
through the buckle twice.

The ST-001 tensioner features a spring loaded gripper lever for more efficient strap handling.
The cut-off handle is vinyl coated for easier operation. A black chromium zinc plated finish
provides superior corrosion resistance. Tensions up to 2400 lbs. Up to 3/4 x .030 Band (max).

Strapbinder double wrapped HBC Series Center Punch Clamps are available in 201
stainless steel or electro galvanized carbon steel. Under conditions of high corrosion, we
recommend the stainless steel clamp. Center punch clamps are double wrapped and locked
with the conical punch of the HBC300 Tensioning Tool. To order the proper size clamp,

Snap-on seals may be used with all except pusher type and magazine fed
tensioners. Placed on the overlapping strap ends during or after tensioning,
they facilitate speedy strapping.
Thread-on seals may be used with all
tools except pusher type and magazine
fed tensioners. Pre-threaded on the
overlapping strap ends before the strap
is tensioned, they are excellent for use
on narrow operating surfaces, on bales
or bundles, or where it is desirable to
form a loop with the seal holding the
strap.
Pusher type seals are used with pusher type
tensioners. Pushing against the seal tensions the
strap. These are recommended for bundling rods
and tubes and for coil strapping.

Tensioners are classified into two basic types –
conventional and pusher. The conventional type
has a base which rests on the surface to be
strapped. A part of it is always positioned
between the strap and the surface. Pusher type
tools tension by pushing against the seal (pusher
seals only), without the strap passing over the
tool base. No tension is lost when the tool is
removed, which is ideal for small irregular shape
packages. Pusher tools also incorporate a
breaker nose to cut the strap at the seal.

Steel Strapping Tools for Round Surfaces and
High Tensile Strap – (3/4" to 1-1/4")
The DPT125 uses strap from the coil and has a breaker nose that cuts the strap. Easiest to
operate of the pusher heavy duty tools, the DPT125 is for round or irregular shapes, heavy
bundles, metal coil pallet tie-downs, unitizing and any other irregular shaped products where
high tension is required. Resetting the rack provides additional take-up.

Plastic Strapping Tools
This manually operated tensioner has a windlass drum for positive high tension take-up.
Pushing the tension handle forward cuts the loose end of the strap after the seal has been
sealed. See the chart below for seal and sealer usage with polypropylene, polyester and nylon

Instruction Sheet
1) To eliminate waste,
pull band from
carton as needed.
With ears of buckle
away from
operator, slide the
buckle on the
banding. Lace
banding around
the object being
clamped and again
thru buckle.
2) Follow same steps
to double wrap for
added radial
compression. Bend
end of band under
buckle.
3) Slide band in tool
nose slot. Press
down on gripper
with thumb and
tension clamp by
turning the handle.
Maximum tension
has been reached
when the band
stops moving
through the
buckle.
4) When maximum
tension has been
reached, roll tool
over buckle. At
same time
reversing handle
carefully approx.
3/4 turn to avoid
breakage. The
band that is
released will be
used in the bend
and therefore there
is no loss
of tension.
5) Lift cutter lever and
band will be cut to
correct length. On
smaller size 1/4"
and 3/8" buckle, a
stub remains after
band is cut.
6) While holding the
stub of the band
with your thumb,
hammer flat over
bridge of buckle.
Complete
application by
hammering the
buckle ears over
the stub.

Center Punch Tools
1) Push ball handle forward. This will open the
front slot. Insert clamp tail and tension by
lifting and lowering tension handle.
2) When sufficient tension has been reached,
secure the clamp by lowering the punch
head onto the lock and strike a minimum
of 2 times with a 2 lb. mallet.
3) Apply forward and backward movements of
the tool to break off the clamp tail.
HBC-032 3/8" adapter can be purchased
separately and inserted into front of tool for
use with 3/8" wide clamps.
4) Remove the tail by ratcheting the ball
handle. Raise handle and pull tail free.

HBJ001 Adapter Insruction
for use with Smooth ID J
Series Clamps
Slide HBJ001 Adapter on to ST001 Spin-Tite tool.
Put tool in a vise
Slide the clamp into the tool until the clamp tail
engages the gripper of the tool.
Insert hose assembly into the clamp and apply
tension by turning the handle of the tool.
When the band no longer moves through the lock,
maximum tension has been applied.
Roll the hose assembly over until the hook of the
HBJ001 adapter rests behind the edge of the lock.
You must reverse the tension of the tool by 1/2-3/4
of a turn during the roll over process.
Cut the band with the shear lever.
The cut off end of the clamp will be flush with
the lock.
