PLC Interface for High Inrush Currents (Lamp Loads, Capacitive Loads, Etc.) With Screw or Spring-Cage Connection – PLC-R...1IC/ACT 1. Short Description PLC interface, the narrow, plug-in, and flexible modular interface system with a user-friendly plug-in bridge system, now offers an extended range of relay interfaces for special load applications, such as lamp loads, capacitive loads and/or loads with increased continuous current. Lamp Loads and Capacitive Loads The most difficult loads to manage include all loads with high inrush currents. If the wrong relay is selected, this can considerably shorten service life due to welded contacts. These heavy loads include all types of lamps that cause high inrush currents due to their low cold resistance. This category also includes loads that cause high inrush peaks due to capacitors in the circuit. These include energy-saving lamps, shunt-compensated fluorescent tubes or types with electronic ballasts, AC motors with starting capacitor, etc. Inrush Currents up to 130 A The 14 mm wide PLC-R...-24DC/1IC/ACT inrush current relay offers the ideal solution with an N/O contact designed specifically for these applications. This relay safely manages short-term inrush peaks of up to 130 A. The maximum permissible continuous current is 6 A, when the double contact connections of the relay are connected (e.g., with the FBST 14-PLC… plug-in bridge) continuous currents of up to 10 A are supported. The block is controlled with 24 V DC signals directly from PLCs, IPCs or DDCs. The actuator block version enables the connection and bridging of lamp and motor return conductors, which eliminates the need for additional return conductor terminal blocks. All Other PLC Advantages The PLC-R…1IC/ACT series also features the other advantages of the PLC range: – User-friendly plug-in bridge system – Integrated input wiring – Relay can be quickly replaced using an engagement lever – Safe isolation between I/O – Markers from the standard modular terminal block range – Cost-effective Phoenix Contact GmbH & Co. Available for screw versions, provided for spring-cage versions. 3) For voltages greater than 250 V (L1, L2, L3) between the same terminal points on adjacent modules, the PLC-ATP insulating plate (see INTERFACE catalog) should be fitted. FBST 8-PLC... or FBST 500... can be used for potential bridging. 4) The values in brackets are permitted if connections 13/13, 14/14, and BB/BB are bridged. 5) The PLC-ATP insulating plate (see INTERFACE catalog) should be fitted between adjacent modules for safe isolation. FBST 8-PLC... or FBST 500... can be used for potential bridging. Notes: Insulating housing version Spring-cage version: Polyester PBT not reinforced Screw version: PA not reinforced (see INTERFACE catalog) Color: green For torque of terminal block screws, see INTERFACE catalog. For marking systems and assembly material, see CLIPLINE catalog. The dimensioning cross section (see INTERFACE catalog) refers to simple wires without ferrules. Inductive loads must be attenuated with an effective protective circuit to protect inputs and outputs. The PLC-ATP insulating plate should always be fitted at the start and end of a PLC terminal strip.
