NOTES OF GUIDANCE FOR APPLICANTS OF A SEX SHOP LICENCE
All licences will run for a period of three years from the date of approval (unless certain restrictions are
imposed by the Licensing Committee). Copy applications will be forwarded to Strathclyde Police,
Strathclyde Fire Brigade, Environment Department and also the Local Member for
comments/observations. Any convictions not declared (subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act)
by you will be disclosed by the Police and may affect your application. Please note that licences are not
transferrable.

All information on application to be fully completed at time of submission.
Notice must be displayed prominently on premises for a period of at least 21 days informing
members of the public of procedures relating to objections. Notice to be displayed after the date
that the application has been lodged with the Licensing Section.
Certificate of Compliance to be signed, dated and returned to this office immediately on expiry of
the 21 day notice period.
Applicants not resident in the UK must provide (at their own expense, and officially translated if
necessary) a Certificate of Good Conduct or similar document from the justice authority of the
country where they are resident.
Applicants who have been resident in the UK for less than 5 years prior to application must
provide (at their own expense, and officially translated if necessary) a Certificate of Good
Conduct or similar document from the justice authority of the country where they previously
resided.

I declare that (a) I will give notice in the form prescribed by the licensing authority of this application by publishing an advertisement in the newspaper
(being the newspaper specified by the licensing authority) not later than 7 days after the date of this application and will supply a copy of that newspaper
containing said advertisement to the licensing authority. The advertisement will, where the application relates to the use of premises, identify those
premises or where the application relates to a vehicle, vessel or stall specify where it is to be used as a Sex Shop; (b) that a notice in the form prescribed
by the licensing authority has been displayed as at the date of this application on or near the premises referred to in the application, that said notice shall
be displayed for 21 days beginning with the date of this application all in a place where the notice can be conveniently read by the public that I will take
reasonable steps for its protection and if need be for its replacement during said period of 21 days and that I will as soon as possible after the expiry of
said 21 days submit to the licensing authority a certificate stating that I have complied with (a) and (b) above and if I have cause to certify that without any
fault or intention on my part that said notice has been removed, obscured or defaced and said certificate shall state the relevant circumstance.
