The department of Computer Science and Engineering has organized AICTE sponsored
International Conference on “Hi-Tech Trends in Emerging Computational Technologies – ICECT 2014” on
20th & 21st February 2014. Mr. I Sudar, Head, Mission Simulation and Analysis Division, Mission
Synthesis and Simulation Group, Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre, Thiruvananthapuram has inaugurated
the conference and delivered the keynote address.

SITWARE NEWSLETTER RELEASE - APRIL 2013
The department of Computer Science and Engineering snootily released their SITWARE
NEWSLETTER on 27th April 2013 which has all the success stories of the department for the academic
year 2012 - 2013. Dr. A. Senthil Kumar, Principal inaugurated the function. The first copy of the newsletter
was released by our respected Principal and Dr. G. D. Siva Kumar, Vice Principal received the first copy
then it was distributed to all the dignitaries on the dais and the Head of the department of the other
departments and the faculty members of the department.
TOPPERS MOTIVATION
The department was always delighted to motivate and honor the students in order to excel in their
academics. Such motivation program was held on 27th April 2013.The toppers of each batch for the academic
year 2012 - 2013 was honored by giving cash awards and the top 10 students of each batch was honored by a
momento. Dr.A. Senthil Kumar, Principal and Dr. G.D. Siva Kumar, Vice Principal honored the students by
giving the cash prize and the momento.
BOARD OF STUDIES MEETING
The first board of studies meeting for finalizing the autonomous curriculum 2013 and syllabus of the
department was held on 6th July 2013. Mrs. Hema Gopalan, Vice President, Tata Consultancy Services,
Dr.S.Swamynathan, Associate Professor, Department of Information Science and Technology, Anna
University, Dr.N. Balaji, Professor & Head, Department of IT, K.L.N College of Engineering,
Mr.C.Theoder Gnandurai, Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Raja
College of Engineering were the panel members. After a great discussion with the HOD and faculty
members of the department, the panel members suggested many ideas that could be added in the curriculum
and syllabus. The suggestions were immediately accepted by Dr.J.Sutha, Head of the department and
delivered the final presentation. Finally the BOS members passed the autonomous curriculum and syllabus
for the department.
AICTE SPONSORED TECHNICAL PROJECT EXHIBITION
The department has organized AICTE sponsored Technical Project Exhibition from 7th to 11th
October 2013. Many events like Technical Project Exhibition, Poster presentation, Guest Lectures were
conducted on “Emerging Computer, Communication and Information Technologies”. Dr.J. Sutha, Head
of the department delivered the welcome address. Dr.A. Senthil Kumar, Principal felicitated the gathering and
Dr.R. Sukumar, Professor introduced the chief guest. Mr. S. M. Seeni Mohaideen, Chief executive officer
honored the chief guest Mr. S. Sankara Bagham, Business Information Security Officer, Citi Technology
Infrastructure Unit of Citibank, Chennai who inaugurated the function and delivered the inaugural address. The
souvenir of the technical project exhibition was released by the chief guest and the first copy was received by
Mr. M. Seeni Mohaideen, the chief executive officer. Finally, Dr.S. Senthamarai Kannan, Professor delivered
the vote of thanks. Many students from various reputed Engineering institutions participated in various events
of the technical project exhibition and the highly talented students were awarded with cash awards.
POSTER PRESENTATION
As one of the events for the AICTE sponsored Technical Project Exhibition, the department conducted
the Poster Presentation for various engineering college students on 7th October 2013. Dr. C. Deisy, Associate
Professor, Department of CSE, Thiagarajar College of Engineering, Madurai and Dr. M. Janaki Meena,
Professor, Department of IT, Velammal College of Engineering & Technology, Madurai judged the poster
presentation and the students with innovative ideas were awarded.
TECHNICAL LECTURE BY ACADEMICIAN
A technical lecture on “Security Issues” was arranged by the department on 8th October 2013 as a part of the
AICTE sponsored Technical Project Exhibition. Dr.N. Balaji, Professor and Head of the department of IT,
KLN College of Engineering, Madurai delivered the lecture.
TECHNICAL LECTURE BY THE STUDENTS
Many students from various reputed institutions participated on the technical lecture competition
conducted by the department for the AICTE sponsored Technical Project Exhibition on 8th October 2013 and
shared their ideas on the “Emerging Computer, Communication and Information Technologies”. Dr.N. Balaji,
Professor and Head of the department of IT, KLN College of Engineering, Madurai and Dr. K. Hemalatha,
Professor & Head of the department of Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering, Sethu Institute of
Technology acted as the Chair person and reviewed the lectures of the students and the most innovative lectures
were selected and awarded as a token of appreciation.
TECHNICAL PROJECT EXHIBITION
Many students from various reputed institutions participated on the Technical Project competition
conducted by the department for the AICTE sponsored Technical Project Exhibition on 9th October 2013 and
showed their project on the “Emerging Computer, Communication and Information Technologies”.
Dr.Vijayalakshmi, Professor/IT, Mepco Schlenk Engineering College and Dr. D. Shanthi, Professor/CSE,
PSNA College of Engineering &Technology judged the students projects and the best three projects were
honored and awarded with cash prize.
TECHNICAL LECTURE BY INDUSTRIAN
A technical lecture was organized by the department on 10th October 2013 as a part of the AICTE
sponsored Technical Project Exhibition. Mr. C. Rengaraj, Head-HR operations, Preethi Kitchen Appliances
Limited, Chennai delivered the lecture.
WORKSHOP ON “COMPUTER HARDWARE,
NETWORKING AND LAPTOP SERVICING”
The department organized workshop on “Computer hardware, networking and laptop servicing” for the
faculties on 3rd and 4th July 2013. Dr.J.Sutha, Head of the department delivered the welcome address and
Dr.A.Senthil Kumar, Principal delivered the felicitation address and honored the chief guest. Mr. T.
Senthilkumar and Mr. Paul Richards from Triton Networking Academy handled the workshop. More than 40
faculties from various departments participated in this workshop and got benefit of it.
SITWARE MAGAZINE RELEASE - 2013
The department is very privileged to release the SITWARE MAGAZINE 2013 on 10th October 2013.
Dr.J. Sutha, Head of the department delivered the welcome address and honored the chief guest Mr.C. Rengaraj,
Head-HR Operations, Preethi Kitchen Appliances Limited, Chennai. Mrs.S. Sridevi, Associate Professor of the
department introduced the chief guest. The magazine was released by the chief guest and the first copy was
received by Mrs. C. Callins Christiyana, Associate Professor of the department. Many faculties, staffs, students
of the department filled their talents and shared their ideas in the magazine. Selvan V.Sekar, Secretary,

PERSONALITY DEVELOPMENT AND
STRESS MANAGEMENT PROGRAMME FOR +2 STUDENTS
To compete in a global economy, the students of our society must continue their education beyond high
school. To make this expectation a reality, the department arranged a Personality Development and Stress
Management Programme on “Good Bye To Exam Phobia” for the +2 students on 24th & 25th December 2013. More
than 250 school students from various schools from Madurai, Thirumangalam, Aruppukottai, Panthalkudi were
participated in the programme. Dr.J. Sutha, Head of the department delivered the welcome address.
Dr.A.SenthilKumar, Prinicpal delivered the presidential address. Mr. S. M. Seeni Mohaideen, Chief Executive
Officer and Mr.S.M. Seeni Mohamed Aliar Maraikkayar, Joint Chief Executive Officer honored the chief guest
Mrs.N. Manjula, Dean, MBA, Thiyagarajar School of Management, Madurai who delivered the inaugural address
and handled one session. Dr.Durai Raj, Special Officer gave the felicitation address. Mrs. S. Raja Rajeswari, Assistant
Professor of the department gave the vote of thanks. All students were benefited by learning how to face and score
high marks in the board exam and participation certificates were given by the head of the department at the end of the
programme.
WORKSHOP ON ANDROID APPLICATION DEVELOPMENT
IN ASSOCIATION WITH IIT, ROORKEE & FINLAND LABS, NEW DELHI
The department has organized two days workshop on “Android Application development “ on 12th and 13th
March 2014 in association with IIT Roorkee and Finland Labs, New Delhi. Mr.Vikas Chauhan, Lead Research
Engineer, Finland Labs inaugurated the workshop and taught the students about developing the android
application. A programming contest was also conducted to evaluate the knowledge of the students about the
android application and the top 3 students were selected and send to the AppsFluxous-2014- National Android
Apps Championship workshop by Finland Labs in Association with ifeet IIT-Roorkee at IIT- Roorkee. Many
students from various institutions participated in the workshop and learned to develop the android application.

their research papers in the conference and shared their ideas towards the emerging computational technologies in the

Engineering, Madurai gave a key note address on “CLOUD – Issues & Research Focus” on 21st February 2014.

SGRY ICT SKILL TRAINING CONDUCTED FOR
LOCAL BODY REPRESENTATIVES OF VIRUDHUNAGAR DISTRICT
The department in association with CSI students chapter organized “SGRY ICT skill training conducted
for local body representatives of Virudhunagar District” from 7th October 2013 to 22nd November 2013.
Dr.J.Sutha, Head of the department welcomed the participants, Dr. Joshva Deavadass, HOD/IT felicitated the
gathering and Mr. Gurubaskar HOD/Applied Sciences gave the vote of thanks. The materials were distributed to
the participants and the basics of computers, Internet and PRIASOFT was taught by the faculties of the
department. At the end of the course the participants got their certificates for attending the training program.
PARENTS MEETING
The parents meeting for the academic year 2013-2014 Even semester was held on 31st January and 1st
February 2014. All the parents of the second year, third year, final year interestedly attended the meeting. Dr.J.
Sutha welcomed all the parents and explained about the academic activities and the placement activities of the
current semester. Parents interacted with the proctors of their ward to know about their academic performance.

To shower the talents of the students the department always provides a platform every year in the month
of MARCH in the form of the PROJECT EXHIBITION. Such an event was conducted on 21st March 2014 for
all the students of the department. More than 20 teams were registered and shared their innovative ideas towards

20.7.2013 & 23.7.2013 & 25.7.2013. This course creates awareness among the students for the
preparation towards their placement and students gained depth knowledge in C language.

International Certification on Cloud Infrastructure and Services is conducted for third year students in
