• Remove the plug from the device during long periods
of disuse.
• Follow the safety tips for handling milling dust.
• Avoid uncontrolled contact with the milling cutters when
the protective cover is open or the cutters are being
changed. Uncontrolled contact with the milling cutters
must also be avoided when the milling jig is being
changed. The sharp milling cutters may cause an injury.
• Avoid direct eye contact with the laser beam and do not
manipulate the cover of the laser device. There is a risk

1.4.2.2 Milling Unit
The milling unit comprises two cutting spindles for holding
the coarse and fine cutters. The cutters must be replaced
after 100 units have been milled. You will be given a reminder
in the display.

and blank jigs. The unit guides the carving over the scanner and the blank over the cutters according to the calculation of the milling process.
Avoid uncontrolled contact with the milling cutters
while changing the cutters. The sharp milling cutters
may cause an injury.
1.4.2.4 START Key
With the START key, you initiate the program you have
selected.
1.4.2.5 STOP Key
With the STOP key, you can cancel the current operation.
The fine cutter (this has a blue cover when removed from
the package) must be placed in the top spindle, while
the coarse cutter (this has a red cover when removed
from the package) must be placed in the bottom spindle.
It is crucial to place them this way, because otherwise
the cutting processes will not work properly.
After pressing this key, you will be asked whether you wish
to cancel the procedure. If you do indeed wish to do so,
return to the Start menu by pressing this key again. The
procedure is thus cancelled.
Pressing the STOP key followed by the START key resumes

2.2 Electricity Supply
Connect the mains cable via a wall socket with a fused
circuit. This circuit should only supply the Cercon brain.
Do not use an extension cable.
After connecting the mains cable, hit the red key switch to
turn on the device.
This key switch is an emergency shutdown switch that
stops all the device’s operations in the event of danger.

cable and a wall socket with fused circuit. In this case also,
you should not use an extension cable.
2.1 Cercon brain Installation
2.3 Getting Ready for Operation
The device must be installed on a level and solid surface
(standing base) at least 10 cm away from the wall or other
objects.
After opening the protective cover, insert the milling cutters
in the cutting spindles (see instructions for manual cutter
changing on Page 6). It is not possible to start the device

the direct rays of the sun or other strong light sources.
The cutter barcode should be read by the barcode reader.
During this, the barcode of the particular cutter is shown

on the display. The barcode reading is acknowledged by
the light going out and a sound being emitted.
These vibrations are largely absorbed by the Cercon brain’s
cast mineral base. Please use the standing base to additionally ensure that residual vibrations do not spread further.
The quality of the scanning and milling result may be adversely impaired.
Even if the device’s own weight keeps it stable, there is a
risk in principle that it could slide off its standing base.
Please secure the device by e.g. indentations in the

appropriate measure.
For safety reasons, the device’s cover should be locked at
zero current. In other words, the cover can only be opened
about 1 minute after the device has been switched on.

Regularly inspect the device for mechanical damage.
In this way, you will prevent accidents and breakdowns.
4 Safety Tips
Remove contaminants and powder residue immediately.
Injury Hazard!
• The milling cutters are pointed and sharp.
Please do not touch the tools.
This is the only way to guarantee proper operation.
Strictly adhere to the requirements for changing the cutters
and vacuum cleaner bag.
• The rotating and turning unit may cause bruising.
Please do not touch the rotating and turning unit
while it is working.
• Never operate the device when the protective cover
is open.
