Setup and start the data acquisition computer. The data acquisition programm MC_Rack should be installed (icon on the desktop). If the icon is not on the desktop, please find the MC_Rack setup.exe on the provided CD (Software/MC_Rack_Setup x.x.x.exe). 2. Connect the interface board (Wireless-IFB) with the USB 2.0 cable to the computer. Add the system as a data source: 2a.Select “Edit”, the “Data Source Setup”. 2b.Select “Data Source” like shown on the screenshot. Adjust the number of channels and adjust the head- stage type if necessary via the button “Change Wireless Device”. Click OK. 3. Add the data source to your rack ( ). 4. Insert a display ( ). Then go back to the rack window and choose the tab “Layout” and mark “Default Map”. 4 Connection of the Headstage to the Signal Generator Headstage Signal generator Connect the headstage to the signal generator as shown on the pictures. Please note that the orientation depends on the type of headstage. W4-HS W8-HS-SR Use adapter, orientation does not matter. W8-HS-OM W16-HS W32-HS Connect to corresponding Omnetics connector according to orientation in the picture above. 5 Connection of the Headstage to the Battery Battery for headstage Headstage 1. Check if battery is charged. To check the battery status, connect it to the charger and then to the USB port of your data acquisition computer (green LED indicates full charge). If you need more information about the battery, please read the section “Charging Set” in the manual on the provided CD. 2. Connect the cable of the battery to the headstage like shown on the picture. The blue LED on the headstage turns on and indicates that the headstage was switched on. 3. Please be careful with the insertion and removal of the battery cable to either the headstage or to the charger. 4. If you wish to turn off the headstage, then press the “Switch Off” button via the “Wireless” window of the MC_Rack “Hardware” tab. 5. In order to turn on the headstage, use the infra-red flashlight and illuminate the receiver LEDs next to the connector for the battery. The flashlight and the headstage should have a distance of 5 to 10 cm. Wireless Charger 6 Infra-red flashlight Test of the System After you have connected the appropriate devices and you have set up the software, you can test the complete set-up with a signal generator providing artificial data and make yourself comfortable with the software settings before starting an experiment with biological samples. 1. Press the control button (see arrow) on the signal generator. 2. In the MC_Rack software, click the start button ( ). 3. You should now see signals in the display. Please note that the system needs some seconds to reach the operation point. 4. If you wish to turn off the signal generator, press the control button for approximately 5 seconds. The set up is now completed.
