The Synthwerks LAMP-1
Single USB Lamp Module.
The LAMP-1 is one of Synthwerks’ growing line
of utility modules. The LAMP-1 module provides
a dual function. The first and primary use of
the LAMP-1 is to provide illumination of the
users system during use in a darkened studio
environment, live on stage, or in any other low
light situations. The supplied USB gooseneck
lamp can be positioned as needed to illuminate
large areas of your system or moved closer to
highlight particular modules of interest. The
LAMP-1 is also useful if you have modules that
use LDR (Light Dependent Resistor) technology
to produce control voltages or tones (such as the
Doepfer A-179 Light Controlled Voltage Source).
The LAMP-1 has a dimmer control that can dim
the USB lamp from full brightness to completely
off (some user-provided lamps may still be dimly
lit in the “off ” position). Almost any standard USB
“laptop” lamp can be used though some large
LED or novelty lamps may not function properly.
The LAMP-1 also has a Four-Way Multiple
section that has four jacks wired together
allowing signals to be combined and routed in
many ways. This section it totally passive and
each jack can be used as either and input or as
an output.

 USB Lamp Socket – This socket is where you plug in the
supplied  Synthwerks USB LAMP (lamp appearance may

differ from drawing). Almost any USB laptop LED lamp will work
if needed. Insert LED lamps only in this socket. DO NOT insert
other USB devices, such as Mice or MP3 players in this socket.
Damage may occur to other USB devices.
USB LAMP
 DIMMER – This control varies the brightness of the LED
lamp. The range is from off (or barely on for some lamps) in the
fully counter clockwise position to full brightness in the full
clockwise position.

MULTIPLE
 4-WAY MULTIPLE – These four jacks are wired together and
any signal patched into any one jack will appear on the other
jacks. This is a totally passive circuit and no active circuits are
involved. We hate to waste panel space so we throw one of
these in wherever there is left over blank panel space to fill.
Power connection
The rear ribbon cable (plugged into connector J6) connects the
LAMP-1 to your cabinet’s power supply. The red stripe on the
ribbon cable should be to the far left (when viewed from the
PCB side), and is marked with a white dot near the connector
on the PCB. This should connect to the -12V on the cabinet’s
power bus you are mounting the LAMP-1 into. NOTE: *DOUBLE
CHECK* this connection before powering up the unit.

