ThenewTriofirmwareupdateprovidesthefollowingnewfunctions:
Pre-SelectingaStyle
TheTRIOcanbeprogrammedtodefaulttoapre-selectedstyleeachtimeyouteachtheTRIOasong
part.
Topre-selectastyle:
1. BeforeteachingtheTRIOyoursongpart(LEARNLEDflashingredslowly),turntheSTYLEknobto
pre-selectthestylethatyouwant.TheselectedstylewillflashinsyncwiththeLEARNLED,
indicatingthatthisstylewilloverridetheautomaticstyleselection.Pre-selectedstyleswillremain
ineffectforallemptyparts,unlesschanged.
2. Toreturntoautomaticstyleselectionatanytimebeforeteachinganewpart,turntheSTYLEknob
untilnoneoftheSTYLELEDsarelit.
TempoInterpretationUsingtheALTTIMEButton
ItissometimesdifficultfortheTRIOtoautomaticallychoosebetweenasloworfasttempobasedon
therhythmusedforteaching.YoucantelltheTRIOthatyouwouldprefereitherafastoraslow
interpretationofyoursongpartbyusingtheALTTIMEbuttontoprovideatempohint.
Toenable/disabletempointerpretation:
1. BeforeteachingtheTRIOyoursongpart(LEARNLEDflashingredslowly),presstheALTTIME
button(thebuttonwillbeginflashingred).Afterteachingyourpart,theTRIOwilltrytochoosethe
slowesttempointerpretationofyourrhythm.
2. Beforeteaching,pressingtheALTTIMEbuttonagain(thebuttonwillbeginflashinggreen)will
causetheTRIOtoanticipateafastersongpart.Afterteachingyourpart,theTRIOwilltrytochoose
thefastesttempointerpretationofyourrhythm.
3. Toreturntonormaloperation,presstheALTTIMEbuttonagain(thebuttonwillnolongerflash).
NowtheTRIOwillautomaticallydeterminewhetherasongpartplaysbackathalfordoubletime
whenenablingtheALTTIMEbutton,basedontherhythmyouplayedwhileteachingthesongpart.

**Whenusingtheexternalfootswitchtooverrideautomaticstyleselectionortosetatempohint,you
needtopressandholdslightlylongerthefirsttimeyouchangefromautomaticmode.Thisisto
preventmistakenlysettingastyleortempohint.
TochangetheFS3Xmode:
1. EnsuretheTRIOispoweredupandrunning.
2. UnplugtheFS3XfromtheTRIO(ifitiscurrentlypluggedin).
3. PressandholdtheFS3XFOOTSWITCHcorrespondingtothedesiredmode(seetableabove).
4. WhileholdingtheFOOTSWITCH,plugtheFS3XintotheCONTROLINjack.Keepholdingthe
FOOTSWITCHdownforatleast1secondafterpluggingintheFS3Xbeforereleasingit.
5. TheTRIOwillnowusethenewfootswitchmode.
Thecurrentfootswitchmodeisrememberedbetweenpowercycles.
SettingtheTRIOtouseSimpleBass
SimplebassmoderesultsintheTRIObassplayerplayingasinglerootbassnoteonceperbar,or
wheneverthechordchanges.UnliketheTRIO+,theTRIOhasnodedicatedSimpleBass button.
However, as this was a highly requested feature, we have provided a way to set the TRIO to play in
Simple Bass mode for all parts:
TosettheSimpleBassoption:
1. Press and hold the GUITAR FX button. All lights on the user interface will turn off. 2. While holding down the GUITAR FX button, turn the BASS level knob all the way to zero - the ALTTIME LED will light RED indicating you are now in simple bass mode. 3. To get out of Simple Bass mode, repeat step 2 but turn the BASS level knob to maximum - the red
ALT-TIME LED will turn off indicating you are in normal bass mode. 4. In order to remind you that the TRIO is in simple bass mode, your currently selected style will
always be RED instead of GREEN. OtherChangesinthisFirmwareUpdate
