Final Announcement and call for papers OPE 2012 - Chennai International Conference & Exhibition on Pressure Vessels and Piping February 13- 16, 2013 @ Radisson Temple Bay, Mamallapuram, Tamil Nadu, India Organised by The Indian Institute of Metals - Kalpakkam Chapter & Metal Sciences Division Indian Nuclear Society, Kalpakkam Branch Indira Gandhi Centre for Atomic Research (IGCAR), Kalpakkam, India Supported by International Institute of Welding (IIW) Welding Technology Institute of Australia (WTIA) www.ope-2012.com www.ope-2012.com enchanting tamil nadu incredible India THEME & SCOPE The theme on pressure vessels and piping is a subject important to power generation (nuclear and conventional), aerospace, defence, transport, paper, oil and gas, and chemical processing industries. The cause as well as prevention of failures and leaks of pressure vessels, boilers, piping and associated equipment, and demand to achieve trouble free operation has drawn considerable attention world-wide. Unscheduled outages often cost huge money. The repair of damaged pressure equipment and life assessment of operating plants pose major technical challenges for industry. There is a concern for some operating plants with limited scope for repair and replacement. OPE 2012 – KALPAKKAM focuses on a range of technical issues related to design, material deformation, damage and its ageing behaviour, fabrication and repair technologies, non-destructive evaluation and inspection, failure investigation, assessment and life prediction of components, quality assurance and international trade in the area of pressure vessels and piping. The purpose of this conference is to bring together the multi-disciplinary community of engineers, scientists, academicians and regulatory bodies to discuss the recent trends and future developments in the area of pressure vessels and piping. RELEVANCE People : Researchers, Academicians, Material and design engineers, Manufacturing engineers, Welding technologists, Managers of engineering establishments, Operation and maintenance personnel, Consultants, Regulatory authorities, Inspection personnel, Failure analysts Industries : Power generation, Petro-chemical, Boiler and pressure vessel manufacturers, Material processing, Welding consumables and fabrication, Paper manufactures, Non-destructive testing, Regulatory authorities, Educational Institutions, Research and development organisations Equipment : Pressure vessels, Heat exchangers, Boilers, Fittings, Pipe work and pipelines, Pumps, Valves, Control Range equipment, Portable cylinders TOPICS TO BE COVERED - Design of High Pressure Equipment and Pressure Vessel Codes - Materials for Pressure Vessels and Piping - Creep, Fatigue and Fracture Mechanics - Tensile and Impact Properties - Deformation and Damage Mechanisms - Corrosion Science and Engineering - Inspection Techniques - Non-Destructive Evaluation - Small Specimen Testing - Component Testing - Ageing Management - Fabrication, Welding and Repair Technologies - Failure Analysis - Life Monitoring, Assessment and Prediction - Risk, Analysis and Quality Assurance - International Trade in Pressure Equipment The conference is structured as plenary sessions followed by parallel sessions. The plenary lectures will be delivered by the Eminent Personalities Invited to introduce the theme of conference. Each parallel session starts with Invited Lectures on specific topic followed by contributory papers. Apart from oral sessions, a single Poster Session (attended by all the delegates) is devised that offers a unique platform to focus on specific topics of interest and helps in expanding the discussion beyond the limit of oral presentation. The language for the presentations and the conference proceedings is English. The conference papers are being reviewed and the proceedings of the same in the form of a CD along with the book containing accepted abstracts would be made available to the delegates during the conference. Three best contributory papers each in oral and poster sessions will be awarded based on the selection by the international panel of referees.
