"Seriously? Free food?!"
At Bellyful, we know how hard those first few months with a
newborn can be – and that’s before adding other children or career
demands to the mix!
Bellyful volunteers deliver meals to families with newborn babies
and families, with young children, who are struggling with illness.
Particularly those lacking a good support network.
Having a few meals delivered by a friendly face can be a real sanitysaver.
We are not a food-bank – our service is appreciated by working
parents as much as those at home.


PGFNZ provides free counselling and support for those
whose gambling is causing them problems, as well as for
family and significant others who are affected by a family
member’s gambling. Support for family can be provided
even where the problem gambler is not yet seeking help.
Counselling is fully funded via Ministry of Health.
 PGFNZ also offers education and health promotion around
the areas of problem gambling and how it can affect people
and communities. We are able to attend events, and can also
conduct brief screens for individuals who want to get a
better idea of whether their gambling is problematic.
Referrals can be made by phone or email; however we find it is
often easier for those with gambling problems to make contact
themselves, as sometimes people are reluctant to be rung back, and
we can then establish best mode of contact and / or set up a faceto-face session appointment straight away.

Northern Waikato District Council is responsible for a wide range of
local services including community and economic development, and
town planning. One of the strengths of local government is the
opportunity it allows for citizens to be directly engaged in the
process of governing their own towns, cities and regions. The
community can have a say not only by voting, or even standing for
Council or Community Board but by contributing to Council's annual
planning processes through submissions. The Council has a Social
Development activity through which it provides local community
grants (administered by the five community boards) and district
community grants which are administered by the Council. In the
last few years the Council has worked with the community and
adopted a Positive Ageing Strategy, Disability Strategy and a Youth
Strategy. These Strategies provide more focus for Council's activities
in these areas.
