Learners may also require additional support. This needs to be negotiated and
agreed with the learner to help them whilst they are on the course.
All the above information should be reflected in your planning and delivery.

Pages 2– 5 Aims and objectives, and progress and achievement
(RARPA stage 1, 3 and 4)
Outcomes/objectives should be SMART: A SMART learning outcome needs to be
Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic and Timely. Ask the learners to rate
how they feel about them during the first session so you can gauge their confidence levels and use this to inform planning your sessions.
You should review learners’ work with them on a regular basis. This can be recorded in the “middle” section. Ask the learners to reflect on their own progress.
You can record your feedback about pieces of work or progress made, making
specific, focussed and clear comments; and you can add an individual target for
the learner to focus on during the rest of the unit of work.
At the end of each topic you can use the last section to record progress.
Page 6 End of course review and “what I plan to do next” (RARPA
stage 5)
At the end of the course you will need to complete a final review of the learners’ progress against the course outcomes. You should provide feedback to the
learner on their achievement. The learner needs to use this time to reflect on
what they have achieved and discuss their next steps. It is important to discuss
with the learner their next steps and provide information, advice and guidance
on how this can be supported. The learners intended progression also needs to
be coded on the register as appropriate.
