Louis C. Rose, MD is a native of the Bronx who began his education in the Bronx at PS-5. He attended C.W.
Post Colleague receiving a Bachelor of Science in Biology and completed his medical degree at Rutgers
Medical School. Dr. Rose completed his surgical internship through the Cornell Program, followed by a
residency in orthopedic surgery over a four-year period at New York Medical College. He was invited to join
the faculty in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at the New York Medical College which he accepted and
began as a Clinical Instructor. He was promoted to Assistant Professor in the Department and ultimately the
Chief of the Division of Hand Upper Extremity Surgery.
While at New York Medical College he worked at Lincoln Hospital as a full time orthopedic attending and CoChief of the Hand Upper Extremity Service for over ten years. Dr. Rose was one of four orthopedic surgeons
assigned to the “Presidential Trauma Team” while working at New York Medical College at the Westchester
County Medical Center.
In 1999, Dr. Rose joined the staff at Westchester Square Medical Center where he accepted the position of
Chief of the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at the Cornell affiliate hospital here in the Bronx. He served
as the Chief Medical Officer in the hospital, as well as the Chairman of the Board. He was also appointed to
the Board of Trustees for the Presbyterian Hospital system. Dr. Rose is presently the Chief of the Department
of Orthopedic Surgery and Associate Director of the Department of Surgery at St. Josephs Medical Center.
Dr. Rose has organized many community health programs in the Bronx and has practiced here for the last
twenty five years. His service and commitment have been recognized by many civic and healthcare leaders
and for this he has received the acknowledgement of his peers and community alike. His recognized talent,
skills and dedication has made him the Surgeon of Choice for many in the athletic, celebrity, and political field.
Awards include the New York State Liberty Award; New York State Senatorial Award as well as the New York
City Proclamation. Dr. Rose is the Chairman of the Committee of Medical Education for the Judges of the
State of New York and is a frequent lecturer at the Jurist Institute in White Plains, responsible for education
the judges in the State of NY. He is also an appointed NYC Police Surgeon and has served on the Medical
Advisory Board of the NYS Athletic Commission.
Dr. Rose is well published in the field of orthopedic surgery. He has appeared on both local and national TV as
an expert commenting on stories of an orthopedic origin and serves as an orthopedic expert for ABC News.
Dr. Rose was also interviewed on the Lou Dobbs Show, CNN. The topic was medical malpractice issues in
America.
Dr. Rose is the Founder and Executive Medical Director of Throgs Neck Multi Care, P.C. a comprehensive
Medical Facility specializing in the treatment and care of all orthopedic trauma, injures and degenerative
conditions.
Louis C. Rose, MD was elected the Society’s President on June 2013 and served until May 31, 2014.
