The FHWA approved Marion Steel LAP SPLICE system
is designed to give you an easy-to-install ground mounted,
bolted base breakaway system for RIB-BAK U-channel.
And, with just two special bolts and spacers used to join
base to top post, it costs less than competitive U-channel
breakaway systems.

Designed for economy and safety
Because the system utilizes a short RIB-BAK ground post,
it can easily be driven into even the hardest clay soils from
ground level with manual or power tools, in just minutes.
Nesting and bolting the system takes just minutes, too – so
altogether your installation crew spends less time by the
side of road, reducing their exposure to traffic-related injury.
The system securely nests RIB-BAK U channel together,
forming a union as strong as the posts themselves.
Crash test and approved
FHWA and AASHTO approved, the Marion Steel LAP
SPLICE system has been tested for multiple post installation
up to three posts for 3lb. sign posts, and two posts for
4 lb. sign posts. For single or multiple post installations, the
system stands up to a variety of wind pressure conditions
and meets FHWA guidelines.

Made of finest high-carbon new billet steel (Grade SP80). RIB-BAK’s patented design features a ribbed back and
flange to strengthen posts at crucial load-bearing points, so
RIB-BAK can handle larger signs. Back ribs (contact points)
are flush surfaces, giving a solid, more permanent sign
attachment. No drilling necessary, ⅜” holes run the length
of post on 1” centers.
Specification, tolerance, certification charts and wind
pressure tables available upon request.

self-locking flanged
nuts on to each bolt and
tighten. Replace soil
around base post.

1.Drive a square tube anchor into the ground.
2.When anchor is 2” from the ground, (or mounted flush to
the ground) remove the drive cap. Place the NEX Tube
into the anchor, approximately 12” down
3.Insert the NEX wedge between the anchor and post.
Using a hammer drive it in approximately 2”.
4.Successfull and easy installation of NEX port is finished.

Nex sign posts are designed to be used with existing square
anchors.

1.Using a slide hammer, thesign postcan easily be removed.
Simply place the slide hammer hook in the slot in
the wedge.
2.Lift the wedge using the slide hammer. Once the wedge
is removed, lift the sign post out of the post anchor. Your
NEX sign post is removed with little effort and time.
Without the slide hammer it is virtually impossible to
remove - making it tamper proof.

S-SQUARE stands alone as the only sign support system
with an EVERBRIGHT finish. EVERBRIGHT is a process in
which the hot-dipped galvanized tube is given a grain finish
followed by a baked, clear acrylic coating. This gives our
supports a high luster and added corrosion protection unlike
any other sign support.

Telescoping properties
•Quality controlled tube forming and punching as well as

The Break-Out is an easy to use alternative to conventional signpost
breakaways which enables permanent anchor base installations in soil,
asphalt or concrete.
Not just another breakable bolt or splice connection. Break-Out is the
worlds only breakaway device in which the fasteners play no role in the
breakaway feature.
The product is engineered to ensure maximum wind load capability
(90% of the post bending moment).
For roughly the cost of a slip base or splice hardware kit (up to 75%
less per complete installation) the Break-Out offers advanced features
within a reliable user friendly design.
Gone are the piles of parts, torque wrenches and complicated
installation/repair methods.
Break-Out Firsts
• Fasteners and bolt torque play no role in breakaway feature.
• Breaks away with a set amount of force from any angle of incidence
(360º), irrespective of speed of impact.
• The coupler shears flush with the surface and plugs the opening
without leaving shards of metal to reduce trip-fall accidents.
• The Anchor base is undamaged even if the Break-Out is directly
impacted by a vehicle wheel, undercarriage or mower/plow blade.
• Made of ductile material, and incorporating a patented tri-circular
shear section (directly related to the actual post strength) Break-Out
will elongate (bend) up to 12% ensuring high wind load capability.
Break-Out™ Modular Anchor - Adapter
The best part of a good sign post system is not the post.
Sure we provide some quality posts offering real advantages but they
are simply posts if they don’t incorporate a useable (or should we say
re-useable) anchor that will withstand a beating when its being installed
or if the post is knocked over.
The Break-Out modular anchor allows the installer to alter the length
and even use scrap 2” square sign post without welding or bolting,
it also prevents the anchor from filling with soil or asphalt when it is
driven in place, finally the stabilizer feature can be incorporated as the
particular installation demands.
The key component in the anchor system is the Adapter which can be
used a standalone device in concrete at least 4” thick or with extensions
for asphalt and soil of a length to match your specific conditions.

• No special tools (torque wrenches) are required for installation, just
a ratchet and a pair of pliers.

removing the wedge from the anchor and inserting a new coupler.

• The Break-Out system makes it easy to change post types without
a new anchor installation. To use a square or round post in lieu of a
U-Channel simply insert the correct Break-Out in the existing anchor
