This August and Fall the Charlotte Glencross Gallery will be hosting a split exhibition brought to us by two diverse artists, MJ Edwards (Mixed Media) and Sheri Larsen
(Acrylic Painting.)
Memory: Transfer, Trace, Transition : by MJ Edwards
From artist, MJ Edwards
"My encaustic mixed media works thematically explore my ongoing interests in how meaning is created and our need to create memorials and to remember the past.
They can be abstract, quietly meditative, or constructed as non-linear narratives. I http://us5.campaign-archive1.com/?u=10c683562dd0488ec85e3d165&id=a8726ba7dd 1/4

meaning through the associations and memories brought to the work. Through the transfer of personal memories, through the trace s of things left behind, collected, or discarded, and through transitions from one state of being to another as we live and grow, we construct new meanings and memories, and discover new things about the world and ourselves. It is these processes that interest me most, and the act of creating the work is equally as important as the end result, because for me each new work is an act of self discovery."
Circle & Green, a Series of Drawings & Paintings: by Sheri Larsen
From artist, Sheri Larsen
"The majority of Sheri’s art is focused on the human form and contemporary abstract compositions. Sheri prefers to allow each piece to take form intuitively, whether she is guided by her surroundings or imagination, this being a very natural way for her to work. Taking part in group and solo exhibitions have been a continuation since first emerging with her art in 1999. Sheri is largely self-taught and has taken courses in painting, lithography, stained glass, and encaustics. Sheri’s work is sold internationally, has been publicized in both local, provincial news papers, and online;
She has won awards in juried art competitions within Canada. Sheri is an annual member of the Sunbury Shores Gallery in St. Andrews, New Brunswick. And displays year round at 'Symbiosis Gallery', also located in St. Andrews, NB"

Although she will be missed, we wish Kelsey the best of luck with her ultramarathon in Gatineau Park in Quebec next weekend and with her upcoming exchange program at the University of Essex in England this Fall!
