6.2. TECHNOLOGY
The rectifier module converts the AC mains supply into direct current. The function is
achieved using the latest high-frequency-switching and results in reduced volume.
The forced convection design offers high power density of 0.55 W/cm3 at 45°C, as well
as high efficiency and low weight.
Each rectifier module is factory pre-set and can operate independently or in parallel with
other rectifiers.
The modules share their nominal power between the load or the battery.
6.3. OPERATING DESCRIPTION
The rectifier module consists of four sub-assemblies:
- An input circuit with protection devices, a rectifying circuit, an EMI filter and a filtering
and storage capacitor. The input circuit includes an active power factor correction (boost
chopper at 50 kHz) which ensures a sinusoidal input current as well as a power factor
better than 0.97.
- A full bridge phase shift converter connected to an RF transformer converting DC
voltage from the storage capacitor into high-frequency AC voltage (100 kHz).
- An output circuit with EMI filter and rectifying devices converts the transformed
secondary voltage into DC voltage.
- A control and regulation circuit drives the full bridge on the basis of output voltage and
current information using pulse-width modulation devices.

1) This apparatus must be professionally installed. The installation should be such that
its power and alarm terminals and wiring connected thereto is not operator accessible.
2) The apparatus should be used only on TT, IT and TT power systems as defined in
Annex V of EN60950-1, IEC 60950-1 or UL60950-1.The apparatus should be installed in
a rack or frame onto which the incoming safety earth is hard wired.
3) The apparatus should be installed in a restricted access location.
4) The apparatus should be installed in a non operator accessible metal enclosure host
system which constitutes a fire enclosure within the meaning laid down in EN60950-1,
IEC60950-1 or UL60950-1.
5) The apparatus takes the form of stationary pluggable equipment which is hotpluggable and therefore in itself performs the function of a disconnect device.
WARNING
Failure to observe the above precautions may result in hazardous conditions on the
network.
