Standard Operating Procedure
Powerjog JX200 Treadmill
Safety Information:
 As the operator; you must have read and understood the operator’s
manual before using this machine. It is kept in the storeroom.
 Please discuss and confirm with the participant if they have any
underlying injuries or respiratory issues and that they are OK to perform
the task at hand.
 Ensure that the treadmill has a current and valid electrically safety
tested sticker attached to it. Use only the mains lead provided and do
not use an extension lead.
 Loose clothing should be avoided whilst exercising on the treadmill. Do
not place items of clothing, towels etc. near or on the treadmill either.
 The area behind the treadmill must have a clear zone of at least 2m.
 The PowerJog treadmill is designed for runners with a maximum body
weight of 130kg. Max operating speed is 25kph. Max gradient is 25%.
 Never get off the treadmill whilst the belt is moving. Use the emergency
stop button if required or do an emergency dismount using the hand
rails and setting your feet astride the running belt.
 Never use bare or stocking feet. And always ensure that suitable, nonslip shoes are worn. Check that footwear is clean of dirt and stones
prior to beginning an exercise on the treadmill.
 The weight of the treadmill is 207kg so great care and correct manual
handling practises should be used when moving it with the help of other
people.
 If there is a requirement to drink fluids whilst exercising then do so only
from drink bottles with small openings to avoid possible spills on the belt
surface.
 Apply the necessary control measures as per the Risk Assessment:

Features:
 As well as a manual mode this treadmill can run pre-set programmes
such as run, jog, walk or hill climb or 400m track circuits.
 It can operate up to 25kph and the gradient can be set as high as 25%.
 It has a colour graphics display with fingertip menus.
 It has a 2 H.P. single phase motor and operates from a standard 240V
(10 amp) mains socket. Maximum power consumption is 2.4kW.
 Useable belt length (running surface) is 142cm long by 52cm wide.
Installation and maintenance:
 The treadmill should only be installed indoors on a flat, level surface.
 Calibration and checks of gradient and belt speed can be carried out
periodically using special tools. Please discuss this with the technician.
 Tracking of belt: From time to time the tracking of the belt may drift. If
this occurs then please notify the technician. More information
regarding tracking adjustment can be found on page 9 of the manual.
 Lubrication of the belt should be done when instructed by the automatic
mileage counter on the display console. Reset this counter once the
silicone lubricant has been applied. Please consult with technician or
view page 10 for further information.
 Routine cleaning of treadmill using “Expert Fitness Clean Off Spray” will
keep the treadmill looking good. From a hygiene perspective, clean
railings, foot guard and other areas with Virkon antibacterial spray after
rigorous bouts of exercise.
 A routine scheduled service should be carried out after 500 hours of
use by a competent service engineer. Discuss this with lab technician or
see page 11 for more details.
 For any other issues or queries then consult with the lab technician.
