MASTER OF ARTS (MA) IN PUBLIC
MANAGEMENT AND POLICY (2013 ->)
Programme requirements :
The master's program in public management and policy is run collaboratively by the universities of Bern, Lausanne, and Lugano.
The first two semesters constitute a common core curriculum during which the student takes basic interdisciplinary courses
for 60 ECTS credits. These courses are offered in Lausanne at the UNIL/ Swiss Graduate School of Public Education (IDHEAP)
or in Lugano or in Bern. Successful completion of the common core curriculum gives the student access to the second part
of the program.
The third and fourth semesters consist of a specialization chosen by the student from among several proposed by the various
partners on their respective campuses. Courses taken in this field of specialization are for the equivalent of 30 ECTS credits.
During this period, the student may also carry out an internship and must write a thesis for 30 ECTS credits.
To receive the PMP master's degree, the student must earn a total of 120 ECTS credits, which corresponds to 4 semesters of
study. According to article 14, paragraph 5 of the Study Regulations, at least 12 of the 120 ECTS credits must be for courses
taken on one of the other partner universities' campuses, and at least 12 must be for assignments written either in a second
national language.
