EMC SourceOne for Microsoft SharePoint can archive content from the following types of Microsoft SharePoint environments: 10 ◆ On-premises SharePoint environment - Administrators can configure a SharePoint Archive activity to archive SharePoint content from on-premises SharePoint servers to the EMC SourceOne Native Archive. ◆ Cloud-based SharePoint environment - Administrators can configure a SharePoint Online Archive activity to archive SharePoint content stored in the cloud (SharePoint Online). EMC SourceOne for Microsoft SharePoint Version 7.0 Installation Guide Introduction Search (Archive Search and EMC SourceOne Search) EMC SourceOne for Microsoft SharePoint provides the following options for searching for archived SharePoint content: ◆ End users can search for archived content using an Archive Search site integrated into SharePoint. This feature is only available for use in on-premises SharePoint environments. ◆ Administrative users can use the EMC SourceOne Search application to search for archived SharePoint content. This feature can be used with on-premises or cloud-based SharePoint environments. Archive Search Restore SharePoint administrators can enable end-users and power users to restore items found using SharePoint Archive Search: ◆ End-users can restore selected items to their original sites (if available). If the original site no longer exists, the user can specify another location. ◆ Power users can perform the same restore actions as end-users. In addition, power users can: • Perform batch restores to the original site. If the original site no longer exists, a power user can restore to a default target site. • View the farm hierarchy and select several lists to restore. External BLOB Storage (EBS) In on-premises environments, EMC SourceOne for Microsoft SharePoint also provides External binary large object (BLOB) storage, effectively offloading the storage of binary large objects from the SharePoint SQL Server and storing them using EMC SourceOne. EBS is configured at the farm level. This feature includes an EBS Provider database which is installed on the SharePoint SQL Server to maintain identification information for BLOBs stored externally in the Native Archive by EMC SourceOne for Microsoft SharePoint. Overview 11 Introduction Remote BLOB Storage (RBS) EMC SourceOne for Microsoft SharePoint Storage Management is a separate product for on-premises environments which provides support for Remote BLOB Storage (RBS). ! IMPORTANT Details on installing, configuring and administering the EMC SourceOne for Microsoft SharePoint Storage Management product are provided in a separate documentation set which accompanies the product. RBS is used specifically with Microsoft SharePoint Foundation 2010 and Microsoft SharePoint Server 2010. ◆ RBS provides the ability to externalize the storage of BLOBs outside of the SharePoint SQL Server and on remote storage. ◆ BLOBs are stored directly on the selected storage. ◆ BLOB storage is configured at the content database level. Deploying the EMC SourceOne for Microsoft SharePoint Storage Management software installs the EMC SourceOne RBS Provider in the farm and adds the full set of user interfaces to your Microsoft SharePoint Foundation 2010 or Microsoft SharePoint Server 2010 Central Administration site. Feature details include: 12 ◆ Content Database Settings – Provides configuration settings for storing BLOB content normally stored in the SharePoint 2010 database in remote storage. ◆ Migration Service – Migrates BLOBs from External BLOB Storage (EBS), the SharePoint SQL database, or another RBS store to the EMC SourceOne RBS store. ◆ Maintenance Service – Performs periodic garbage collection and other maintenance. ◆ Health Monitor – Monitors RBS storage for available free space and provides alerts based on configured thresholds. ◆ Enhanced EMC SourceOne Primary Administration site – An updated EMC SourceOne primary administration site is provided which includes links to RBS-specific configuration information. EMC SourceOne for Microsoft SharePoint Version 7.0 Installation Guide Introduction For more details about these interfaces and their use, refer to the EMC SourceOne for Microsoft SharePoint Storage Management documentation set. Applications (on-premises environments) This section describes applications specifically used with EMC SourceOne for Microsoft SharePoint in on-premises environments. SharePoint administration sites Installing EMC SourceOne for Microsoft SharePoint solutions in your SharePoint environment provides administration sites for your on-premises SharePoint environment. These sites enable SharePoint administrators perform SharePoint-side configuration of general administration of EMC SourceOne features provided for SharePoint. EMC SourceOne Search (for Microsoft SharePoint content) EMC SourceOne Search enables Microsoft SharePoint administrators to search for and process SharePoint content stored in the EMC SourceOne Native Archive. ◆ Administrators can search archived content belonging to many end users. ◆ End users must use the EMC SourceOne Search functionality integrated in the SharePoint user interface to search for content for which they have the appropriate permissions to access. See “Integrated SharePoint Archive search” on page 13 for details. Note: Since EBS content is not stored in the Native Archive, it is not searchable using EMC SourceOne Search. For more information about EMC SourceOne Search application features and capabilities, refer to the EMC SourceOne Search User Guide. Integrated SharePoint Archive search Installing EMC SourceOne components on an on-premises SharePoint server or farm provides an EMC SourceOne page in SharePoint which enables SharePoint users to search for content archived by EMC SourceOne for Microsoft SharePoint. If the Archive Search Restore feature is installed, additional options related to this feature are provided. Overview 13 Introduction Permissions are controlled by either Active Directory or SharePoint group association the user had at the time the content was archived. Refer to the EMC SourceOne for Microsoft SharePoint Administration Guide for more details. Applications (cloud-based environments) SharePoint Online environments are cloud-based and no additional EMC SourceOne applications that are installed on SharePoint servers. Content archived in EMC SourceOne from cloud-based SharePoint environments can be searched by administrators using the EMC SourceOne Search application provided with the EMC SourceOne Email Management platform. 14 EMC SourceOne for Microsoft SharePoint Version 7.0 Installation Guide Introduction EMC SourceOne for Microsoft SharePoint architecture Figure 1 depicts an EMC SourceOne platform architecture extended to include EMC SourceOne for Microsoft SharePoint. Note: For considerations specific to a cloud-based environment, refer to “Considerations (cloud-based environments)” on page 25. Windows SharePoint Services Timer service account permissions Specific permissions for the Windows SharePoint Services Timer service are required to support installation of the optional EMC SourceOne Instrumentation feature. This feature, once activated, enables performance counters and Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI) classes for management servers. You have the following options: ◆ During deployment of EMC SourceOne for Microsoft SharePoint, temporarily specify a Domain Administrator account as the Log On As account for the Windows SharePoint Services Timer service. • When you activate the Archive Services feature, performance counters are installed and are set to "False". • When you activate the Instrumentation feature, performance counters are set to "True". You can also choose to not activate the Instrumentation feature. • You can then change the Log On As account to an account which is a member of the local Administrators group. ◆ Have the SharePoint administrator run InstallUtil.exe on each web front-end server in the farm to manually install the performance counters. Command example: %windir%\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\installut il.exe /AssemblyName "EMC.EX.SharePoint.Services, Version=7.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, publicKeyToken=8e9decb59936af7f" 24 EMC SourceOne for Microsoft SharePoint Version 7.0 Installation Guide Introduction Considerations (cloud-based environments) Review the following considerations for cloud-based environments. Note: For considerations specific to an on-premises environment, refer to “Considerations (on-premises environments)” on page 24. Secure Socket Layer (SSL) certificates to access SharePoint Online By default when you install the EMC SourceOne for Microsoft SharePoint Business Component Extensions software, a SSL certificate is required on EMC SourceOne Console client computers and worker computers to securely access SharePoint Online. Configuration setting This configuration setting is specified in a EMC.EX.SharePoint.ArchivingClient.dll.config file located in: <install_dir>\EMC SourceOne\SharePoint The following line, which is commented by default, will enforce the requirement of an SSL certificate when connecting to SharePoint Online. Figure 2 SharePoint Online config file If you uncomment this line and the key remains set to "True", the certificate requirement can be bypassed. For security reasons, you should leave the line commented and require an SSL certificate to be installed on console and client computers. Important considerations 25 Introduction Installing an SSL certificate on console client computers You must install an SSL certificate on all EMC SourceOne console client computers on which you plan to install the EMC SourceOne for Microsoft SharePoint Business Component Extensions (BCE) software. Note: The method described in this section installs the certificate for the currently logged-in user (e.g., the EMC SourceOne administrator). To install an SSL certificate on a console client computer: 1. Open Internet Explorer and type the URL for you SharePoint Online site. Because a valid certificate is not stored, a Certificate Error displays in the browser. Figure 3 Certificate error 2. Click the Certificate Error and click View Certificates. The Certificate dialog box displays. 3. Click Install Certificates. The Certificate Import Wizard displays. 4. Click Next. 5. On the Certificate Store page, select Place all certificates in the following store and click Browse. 6. In The Select Certificate Store dialog box, select the Trusted Root Certification Authorities store as shown in Figure 4. 26 EMC SourceOne for Microsoft SharePoint Version 7.0 Installation Guide Introduction Figure 4 Certificate store Click Next. Click Finish. The certificate is imported to the store. Installing an SSL certificate on worker computers You must install an SSL certificate on all worker computers on which you plan to install the EMC SourceOne for Microsoft SharePoint Business Component Extensions (BCE) software. This enables the worker computer to authenticate properly to perform SharePoint Online Archiving activities. The method described in this section is different than the method described for the console client computers because worker computers require the certificate be installed for the EMC SourceOne service account under which the worker services run. Note: If you log in using the EMC SourceOne service account, you can use the method described “Installing an SSL certificate on console client computers” on page 26. If logged in as a user other than the EMC SourceOne service account, use the following procedure import an SSL certificate to a worker computer’s certificate store : http://support.microsoft.com/kb/816794 Complete the steps in the "Import the Certificate into the Local Computer Store" section of this article. EMC SourceOne SharePoint on-premises features are installed by deploying SharePoint solutions (contained in .wsp files) to SharePoint Web applications. Some solutions are targeted for the SharePoint Central Administration web application, while others are targeted at the web front-end (WFE) servers in your SharePoint environment. Once the solutions are deployed, you will specify some connection information and configuration settings for the EMC SourceOne environment to enable it process SharePoint-related activities. This section includes the following topics: ◆ “Solution deployment process” on page 40 ◆ “Solution types” on page 40 ◆ “Localization” on page 41 ◆ “Upgrading a solution” on page 41 ◆ “Where to run installs” on page 41 ◆ “Permissions” on page 41 ◆ “Configure environment variables (optional)” on page 42 ◆ “Deploy the Archive feature” on page 43 ◆ “Deploy the Archive Search feature” on page 51 ◆ “Deploy the Archive Search Restore feature” on page 59 ◆ “Deploy the EBS feature” on page 63 SharePoint on-premises solution deployment 39 Installing Microsoft SharePoint Support Solution deployment process The solution deployment process in the SharePoint environment includes: ◆ Adding a solution to the SharePoint solution store – You add the EMC SourceOne solutions to the SharePoint solution store using the STSADM command line administration tool. The solution store provides a centralized collection of all SharePoint solutions available for the server farm. ◆ Deploying the solution from the solution store – After adding the solution to the solution store, you deploy it to web applications or web front-end servers using the SharePoint Central Administration console. The solution is considered fully-deployed once it is synchronized to all applicable servers in the farm. Solution types EMC SourceOne for Microsoft SharePoint features are deployed using two types of solutions: ◆ Central Administration web applications – These solutions deploy custom administration sites for EMC SourceOne for Microsoft SharePoint features. The solutions are targeted at the server hosting the Central Administration site. solutions include: • emces1.administration.wsp – Administration site for the Archive feature • emces1.archivesearchconfig.wsp – Administration site for the Archive Search feature • emces1.ebsprovider.wsp – Administration site for the External BLOB Storage feature ◆ Content web applications – These solutions deploy the web applications to support the EMC SourceOne for Microsoft SharePoint features to web front-end servers in your SharePoint environment. This can be a single web front-end server, or a farm including multiple web front-end servers. Solutions include: • emces1.archiving.wsp – Web application for the Archive feature • emces1.archivesearch.wsp – Web application for the Archive Search feature 40 EMC SourceOne for Microsoft SharePoint Version 7.0 Installation Guide Installing Microsoft SharePoint Support • emces1.restore.wsp – Web application for the Archive Search Restore feature Localization Localization for supported languages is deployed using the solution deployment method.
