What do I need to know if I need Roadside Assistance?
 Your Membership travels with you, not your car. You may receive roadside assistance even if you are a
passenger in another vehicle. Non-Members driving your car are not eligible for service.
 You must be present with the vehicle and have your Membership card and photo ID at the scene of
breakdown. Service is not available to unattended vehicles and is only available to the individual named
on the Membership card.
 Towing or service is not available if the vehicle is not insured or if the vehicle is inoperable prior to
purchasing a Membership.
 New Primary Members joining at time of breakdown will be eligible for a BCAA Plus Membership and
are entitled to a tow to a repair facility and/or destination within 25 km from the point of
breakdown. Additional towing charges apply per km. BCAA Plus standard towing distance will apply
after 48 hours of joining.

Membership Fees
 Fees are due on the Membership expiry date. If fees are not paid within 30 days of the expiry date, the
Member is considered lapsed. If payment is made within 90 days of the expiry date, the Member can
keep their original expiry date and all discounts related to the length of the Membership. Paying after
90 days will be considered a new Membership and the standard waiting period and “Join on Arrival”
rules apply.
 Fees are billed annually and are non-refundable.
 Membership must be in good standing to be eligible for service, rewards or reimbursements.
 $0.95 of all Primary dues are allocated to BCAA’s road safety initiatives.
 Pricing is subject to change without notice.
Emergency Roadside Calls (“ERS Conditions”):
 Towing/Service is not available for;
o An issue impacting normal vehicle operations that existed prior to purchasing the Membership.
o Subsequent towing for the same problem or towing from a garage when work has begun.
o Vehicle that is inoperable when the vehicle was purchased.
o Vehicles with more than four wheels and vehicles not factory built for passenger, pleasure or
recreational use including but not limited to; tractors, limousines, passenger buses, cube vans,
semis, logging trucks, tow trucks, trailers, dump trucks, flat decks, taxis and military vehicles.
o Unattended vehicles.
o Person or vehicles with police citations.
o Vehicles involved in a motor vehicle accident when claims are made to an insurance company.
o Vehicles not prepared for extreme weather or road conditions.
o Vehicles containing livestock or loaded with heavy goods.
o Vehicles driven on poorly maintained roads or not regularly travelled areas including but not
limited to; beaches, fields, vacant lots, construction sites, gravel, unpaved and forestry roads.
o Vehicles that cannot travel in a tow truck at 50 km per hour.
o Towing to metal recycling facilities.
o Towing for non-mechanical reasons including but not limited to, towing to/from
storage locations, moving locations or the result of sale or purchase.

Additional charges will apply for;
o Kilometres or roadside assistance calls over Membership limit.
o Any parts or cost of repairs required to repair vehicle.
o Specialty towing equipment e.g.) 4 wheel drive, dolly or flat deck
o Fees associated with towing a vehicle that has been modified from original manufacturer’s
specifications.
o Fees associated with stand-by, waiting time or ferry charges i.e.) crossing an international
border, ferry wait times.
o Recovery of the Member’s vehicle from a public roadway may incur additional charges if
specialized equipment or services are required. For example additional costs apply if more than
one truck or more than one person is required for traffic control and vehicle extraction. If
vehicle is inoperable after extrication, standard towing benefits will apply.

Other Guidelines
o Transportation is only available to Member and vehicle. BCAA will assist other people (“Third
Parties”) accompanying the Member in arranging alternative transportation such as taxi service.
Third Party transportation costs are not included.
o Four–wheeled passenger, pleasure or recreational vehicles licensed for road travel are eligible
for all services. Dual–wheeled pickup trucks (two wheels on the front and four on the back)
licensed for road travel not carrying a load are eligible for all services except tire service.
o Benefits include;
 Minor adjustments that allow the vehicle to operate under its own power.
 Installation of a spare tire. If a spare is not available or a flat cannot be safely changed,
then towing in accordance with towing provisions will apply.
o Member Rewards are only available to the individual named on the Membership card.
Join On Arrival
 New Members joining at time of breakdown will be eligible for a BCAA Plus and Plus RV Membership
and are entitled to towing to a repair facility and/or destination within 25 km from the point of
breakdown. Towing beyond 25 km is subject to additional charges. BCAA Plus standard towing distance
will apply after 48 hours of joining.
 An upgrade to a BCAA Premier Membership is allowed and will be entitled to towing a repair facility
and/or destination within 25 km from the point of breakdown. Towing beyond 25 km is subject to
additional charges. BCAA Premier standard towing distance will apply after 48 hours of joining.
 Motorcycles are eligible for Join on Arrival service.
Reimbursement for Service
 If service is not available through a CAA/AAA affiliate, Member must receive consent from BCAA before
engaging an alternate service provider. Failure to obtain BCAA’s pre-approval for an alternate service
may result in a reduction of refunds available to the Member.
 Reimbursement is counted as a Road Assist call.
 Requests for refunds must be made within 60 days of the incident. Original receipts must be submitted
in the name of the Member.

Member Code of Conduct
Road Assist may not to be used as a substitute for proper vehicle maintenance. BCAA reserves the right to cancel
a Membership if it becomes apparent that the Member is abusing the service due to negligent vehicle
maintenance, non–payment of dues or as decided by the Board of Directors. BCAA also reserves the right to
refuse service to Members for inappropriate or abusive behavior.
Battery Boost
This service allows the vehicle to be driven to the nearest repair facility. BCAA Battery Service may be available
for BCAA Members needing to purchase a battery.

Locksmith
 If vehicle key is lost or broken and the vehicle is inoperable or the service provider cannot gain entry
Member is entitled up to limit provided for the services of a locksmith to gain entry, or to replace lost or
broken keys.
 Reimbursement of this service is considered a Road Assist call and is limited to once per year.
 Member must pay for service and apply for reimbursement within 60 days of incident. Original receipts
must be submitted in the name of the Member.
 Reimbursement forms and process can be found on bcaa.com.
Bike Assist
 Manual (non-motorized) bicycles are eligible and service will be counted as a Road Assist call.
 Available to residents of British Columbia while in British Columbia.
 BCAA (or its contracted service provider) will attempt an on-the-spot repair. If repair is unattainable,
eligible towing distance will apply for transport of bike and rider.
 Standard ERS Conditions apply.
Safe Ride Home
This benefit is available to Members that are unable to drive home safely due to medical treatment, injury or
other impairment such as ingestion of alcohol or drugs.
 Available to residents of British Columbia while in British Columbia.
 Eligible Members are entitled to one safe ride home per year within eligible distance, which will count as
a Road Assist Call.
 Subject to availability during inclement weather or peak periods.
 Not available to Members that have attempted to drive home and have been stopped by the police.
 Service is only available to vehicles that can be towed with a standard tow truck.
Road Trip Interruption
Individuals who have been Members for more than 1 year are entitled to reimbursement of expenses at the
rates and expense types set out below for a maximum of 3 days to cover unforeseen expenses resulting from
trip interruption due to an automobile breakdown that occurs more than 160 km from your home address of
record.

Not applicable for vehicles involved in a motor vehicle accident when claims are made to an insurance
company.
Products and services that are not eligible for reimbursement include, but are not limited to, car rental
drop off fees, insurance, alcohol, tobacco, gratuities, toiletries, car repairs.
Standard ERS conditions apply.
CAA ID Protect
Powered by Equifax, CAA ID Protect is available to eligible Members that register at www.bcaa.com/IDprotect.
 Lost Wallet Assist: individualized assistance in cancelling and reissuing documents in the event the
contents of a Member’s wallet is lost or stolen plus 6 months of free active monitoring of SIN and
credit/debit card.
 Web Detect: Members will receive a monthly “all clear” notification or email alerts should their personal
information be compromised.
 Exclusive CAA Member pricing is available on other Equifax products.
 Members must be 18 years of age or older and a current BCAA Plus or Premier Member.
 Cancellation of a BCAA Membership will result in a cancellation of this benefit.
RV Coverage
 Eligible Members are entitled to service and towing for recreational vehicles.
 An RV is defined as any vehicle or trailer with living space and/or amenities used for leisure and camping
activities. This includes but is not limited to, dual wheel campers, motor homes, fifth wheel trailers,
travel and tent trailers, camperized vans, truck and camper.
 RV coverage is required for towing service for horse trailers, utility trailers and boat trailers.
 Standard ERS conditions apply.
Motorcycle Coverage
 Eligible Members are entitled to service and towing for motorcycles.
 Standard ERS conditions apply.
Double Extrication
 Services of a second tow truck and driver for up to one hour.
 Standard ERS conditions apply.
Kids Go Free
Kids Go free is available to eligible Primary Members with eligible products for the protection of their children.
 Emergency roadside assistance is only available within the province of British Columbia.
 Members must register their child’s name and birthdate to their BCAA Membership.
 Multiple children up to the age of 15 years living in the same household as the Primary Member can be
registered. Once a child/children reach the age of 16 the “Kids Go Free” option will be dropped from the
Primary Member’s Membership on their next renewal date without notice.
 Service vehicles are not equipped with car seats. BCAA will assist in arranging alternative transportation
such as taxi service for adults travelling with children requiring car seats. Third Party transportation
costs are not included.

Any repair costs incurred on the roadside with this benefit must be paid by the vehicle owner at the
time of roadside assistance.
Motorcycle Coverage is not available.
Travel Assistance Service
 Premier Members are provided with this service at no charge. The cost for other Members is $39.95 +
Tax and allows up to 4 calls per Membership year.
 Travel Assistance Services are provided to Members by World Travel Protection and offers emergency
information and arrangement assistance.
 Members will receive a wallet card with a toll-free phone number they can call at any time while
traveling.
 The coverage is only valid until the Membership expiry date.
 This is a referral service only. Associated product, travel or service costs are the responsibility of the
Member.
Two Day Car Rental
 Premier Members are entitled to 1 two day car rental reimbursement per Membership year.
 Members must arrange the rental car through BCAA by calling: 1-888-268-BCAA (2222).
 BCAA will only cover the base rental fee on intermediate class (C–class) with a reimbursement limit to a
maximum of $35/day.
Passport Photos
 Premier Members are entitled to a free set of passport photos per Membership year.
 Photos must be taken at a BCAA Service Location.
