DC to 6 GHz Switches Offer High Power Design Flexibility KCB’s latest SPST through SP6T switches are ready for your high power-handling requirements Standard high power surface mount (SMT) package from 20 to 200 Watts. These versatile devices feature the highest power-handling capability available in standard QFN packages and thermally conductive flange-mount packages. As an added feature, they’re shipped complete in your choice of multiple factory-configured ports. Designed and manufactured with PIN diode technology, they’re 100 percent RF tested (small signal), have robust carrier construction, and are composed with thick deposition thin film traces. They’re housed in standard 5 or 7mm QFN-style packages, and also in hermetic packages. They’ve been created for applications where robust design/construction and low costs are key application drivers. High Power SMT Switches For power levels up to 100 Watts, the KCB high power surface-mount switch product line provides the designer Standard high power package with AlN carrier and CuW sub-mount with a flexible platform from which switches can be tailored to a specific application. With low loss performance from DC to 6 GHz, and robust construction, these switches are ideally suited for today’s demanding portable military comms marketplace. KCB offers several off-the-shelf configurations, as well as dozens of possible configurations that can be quickly realized using off-the-shelf components. In addition, the designer can choose from a menu of diodes that provide optimal linearity for the application. These features, coupled with KCB’s ability to 100% small signal test, give the engineer the highest level of confidence that the switch will meet its intended application. High Power Flange Switches To address the need for switches that can handle powers in excess of 100 Watts, KCB has developed a flanged-based switch product line. By utilizing an AlN carrier with a CuW sub-mount construction, these products offer superior heat spreading, which allows for larger CW incident power levels up to 200 Watts. This, coupled with larger minimum breakdown voltages, provides the designer with a switch that is perfected for higher power comms radios, radar, and counter Custom package example IED systems.
