Active Sensor for Measurement of Freezing Point Temperature
The active sensor IT-ARCTIS (Active Road / Runway Condition Temperature of Ice Formation Sensor) allows measuring the exact active freezing point by cooling the sensor itself down to 15°C below the current pavement temperature.
The freezing point temperature of the de-icing agent-water-dust mixture located on the surface of the sensor is measured independently
from the used de-icing agent. This is particularly significant for airports, where on aviation areas salt is not allowed to be used for de-icing.
The required accuracy for freezing point temperature measurement, as defined in the European Standard EN 15518, is ensured.
The direct RS485 output provides outstanding flexibility in any existing and future Boschung systems as well as in other independent systems, such as Traffic Management Systems.
The sensor can be installed in sensor box, if required.

The PWS 500 IR (Present Weather Sensor) is a compact Present Weather Sensor, which uses optical backscatter technique for analyzing water particles of different forms in the air like fog, rain or snow.
Thanks to its compact design the PWS 500 IR uses very low power consumption to keep its optics dry. With the shields protecting the optics
from direct sunlight and rain, the lenses can be kept clean and very low maintenance is required.

The RF/TL 500 sensor measures the air relative humidity and temperature. An integrated electronic unit processes the air humidity signal
and produces a linear signal proportional to the relative humidity. The housing uses natural ventilation to accelerate elimination of condensation on the measuring head. A protective filter covers the sensitive elements of the measuring head. This filter is used to obtain the best response time in an environment close to a main road.
The sensor itself is protected from foul weather by a weatherproof casing. It is also protected against direct, indirect and distributed radiation. This protection is designed so that the temperature distribution is uniform internally and very close to the temperature of the outside
air. Natural ventilation guarantees a very rapid response time for measurements.

Ultrasonic Wind speed and direction sensor
The WG (wind speed) and WR (wind direction) sensor is designed to measure horizontal wind speed and direction.
This ultrasonic anemometer uses a proven technology to provide wind speed and direction data over one RS485 serial output. A status code
is transmitted together with the measurement to confirm correct operation.
With its robust, corrosion-free polycarbonate housing, this small, lightweight wind sensor is recommended for use in harsh environmental

Road Condition Observer
The RCO sensor is an electro-optical sensor able to measure road conditions and temperature. Easily installed on a pole or frame, it does not
require any work on the roadway. The RCO sensor monitors the pavement condition and temperature in real time and detects the appearance of water or snow as well as the formation of ice.
The RCO sensor can be connected within a Boschung local network or directly polled by the BORRMA-web software. The data delivered by
the RCO sensor is displayed on the BORRMA-web like a standard RWIS (Road Weather Information System).

The patented ARCTIS (Active Road / Runway Condition Temperature of Ice Formation Sensor) sensor is used as a complement to the passive
BoPAS or BOSO sensor. The ARCTIS sensor surface is submitted to cooling and heating cycles generated by a Peltier element.
A PT100 temperature sensor placed close to the sensor surface allows to detect the freezing point of an aqueous solution. The freezing
point can be given until 15°C below the pavement temperature.
This active technology provides a reliable information about ice forming conditions on road surface independently of the kind of de-icing
agent engaged The cycles are used to detect any risk or presence of black ice, frost, ice or freezing snow on the pavement.
The sensor can be supplied with a housing for special applications (airports, etc.).

The active BOSO II (BOden SOnde) has been developed to be installed in the pavement. It measures the road surface temperature by means
of a PT100 sensor, as well as the electrical properties of the aqueous solution covering the pavement. These parameters allows the evaluation of the salt concentration of this solution.
Besides, the BOSO II sensor is equipped with an active element allowing to cool down a part of the sensor surface by 2°C below the current
pavement temperature.
The creation of ice on this cooled area allows to detect an icing danger with great accuracy, independently from the type of thawing agent
used, and especially before it happens on the pavement.
This sensor can be used jointly with the type pavement sensor ARCTIS (which effectively measures the freezing point temperature), allowing
then to determine accurately the remaining factor of salt on the pavement.

Solar Radiation
Pyranometer
The PYRANOMETER measures the total solar radiation on a flat or sloping surface by means of adjustable feet. The measuring is based on the principle of the thermocouple. The measuring instrument comprises 64 thermocouples which are linked in series. The sensor detects the radiation occurring under the two concentric glass domes, which ensures excellent long-term stability of measurement, as well as a high degree of measurement linearity.
