The freezing point temperature of the de-icing agent-water-dust mixture located on the surface of the sensor is measured independently from the used de-icing agent. This is particularly significant for airports, where on aviation areas salt is not allowed to be used for de-icing. The measuring is based on the principle of the thermocouple. The measuring instrument comprises 64 thermocouples which are linked in series. The sensor detects the radiation occurring under the two concentric glass domes, which ensures excellent long-term stability of measurement, as well as a high degree of measurement linearity.
