STEEL SPECIFICATIONS Norseman Structures uses high quality galvanized steel framework as a standard in all building designs. Heavy gauge steel ensures buildings are safe, meet building codes and are built to last, providing customers with premium product unmatched in the industry. In addition to the use of heavy gauge steel, Norseman uses larger diameter roof purlins and heavy cables to resist fabric tension loads and provide stability bracing for roof trusses. Steel Framework Norseman Structures products are designed to meet regulatory standards, following yield strengths specified by the American Society of Testing and Materials (ASTM), instead of steel strengths advertised by suppliers. Materials are selected to adhere to product design and are manufactured in a quality-controlled environment to meet all mandatory building requirements. Quality Certifications* CSA A660-10 (manufacturers of steel building systems) Canadian Welding Bureau (fusion welding of steel) CSA/W 47.1, W59 Based on steel requirements and manufacturing techniques for individual product lines, Norseman Structures utilizes two different galvanizing processes; in-line galvanizing and hot dip galvanizing. American Welding Society (welding fabricator) AWS/B5.17 * Steel product meets ASTM A500 and CSA G40.21 Standards. The heavy-duty in-line galvanized steel is triple coated, starting with a thick layer of protective molten zinc. A conversion coating bath provides another layer of corrosion protection, followed by a clear organic coating to seal the steel surface and provide a smooth finish. The interior of the steel tube is then painted with zinc-enriched paint. All welds are sandblasted and finished with a molten zinc corrosion protection process, ensuring the weld zone is fully restored to the service life of the original, galvanized finish. The in-line galvanizing process provides a finished product with exceptional mechanical and corrosion resistant properties. Norseman Structures’ hot dipped galvanized steel components are manufactured from black steel, fabricated into building trusses. The trusses are dipped in a series of acid bathes to remove flux, dirt, oils and foreign materials before being dipped into hot moltzen zinc, coating the product inside and outside of the tubing. This galvanizing process creates a product highly resistant to corrosion and virtually maintenance free. Quality assurance programs are documented in the Quality System and Welding Quality Control manuals. All employees are trained in quality systems and all training and personnel qualifications are tracked and recorded.
