When it comes to exterior lighting applications certain light levels, uniformity
and longevity are required.
Advantages of LED lighting
LEDs bring several advantages to the lighting industry, including high efficacy
and durability, and, with superior life over other lamp sources, their required
maintenance is greatly reduced. This translates into energy savings, maintenance savings, and environmental sustainability. There is also the potential
for greater optical control (more controllable source), dimming, instant on/off,
and reduced rate of lumen depreciation (potential for long application life).

LED 101
A light-emitting diode (LED) is a semiconductor light source. LEDs are used as
indicator lamps in many devices and are increasingly used for other lighting. Introduced as a practical electronic component in 1962, early LEDs emitted low-intensity
red light, but modern versions are available across the visible, ultraviolet, and infrared
wavelengths, with very high brightness.
Each diode is about 1/4 inch in diameter and
uses about ten milliamps to operate at about
a tenth of a watt. LEDs are small in size, but
can be grouped together for higher intensity
applications.
An LED fixture is an integrated light that uses
LEDs as its light source. These are considered integrated lights because, in most cases, the luminaire and the fixture are not separate parts. The LED light cluster is sealed
on a panel and then assembled to the LED
panel with a heat sink to become an integrated lighting fixture.
Heat sinks for LED fixtures are similar in design to heat sinks used to cool other electronics such as computers. Heat sinks tend
to have as many grooves as possible to
facilitate the flow of hot air away from the
LEDs. The area of heat exchange will directly
affect the lifespan of the LED luminaires.
The lifespan of an LED fixture is determined
by its light output compared to its original
design specification. Once its brightness
decreases by 70 percent, an LED fixture is
considered to be at the end of its life.
Most LED street lights have a lens on the
LED panel, which is designed to cast its
light in a rectangular pattern, an advantage
compared to traditional street lights, which
typically have a reflector on the back side of
a high-pressure sodium lamp. In this case
much of the luminance of the light is lost and
produces light pollution in the air and surrounding environment. Such street lights can
also cause glare for drivers and pedestrians.

Terminology
With new lighting options coming on to the market due to the new laws from
the Energy Independence and Security Act (E.I.S.A) there are some new terms
associated to some different lighting types. With LEDs being one of the slickest lighting options available right now, the terminology and testing associated
with them can be a little foggy. Some terms that are now floating around are
LM79 and LM80 when we are talking about LEDs.
What’s LM79?
These are tests to help you figure out if you are making the right choice by going with an LED fixture. LM79 is designed to help consumers know what they
are buying when they make the decision to go with an LED fixture over other
energy efficient options. LM79 measures total luminous flux, luminous intensity
distribution, electrical power, efficacy (lumens per watt delivered), and color
characteristics (chromaticity, CCT, and CRI) of the LED fixture.
What’s LM80?
LM80 is there to help ensure that you are getting the most out of your LED
chip. One interesting thing about LEDs is that they do not “burn out” the way
traditional incandescent light bulbs do because they do not have a filament to
burn out. With LEDs the light quality just depreciates to the point where the
LED is no longer usable. LM80 is the approved method for measuring lumen
depreciation of LEDs. Simply put, LM80 helps to validate that the LED will
have a usable amount of light for as long as it says it will.
What is L70?
The term ‘L70’ is used to describe the LED’s expected light output over it’s
stated life span. ‘L70’ means that at the defined life time (hours) the LED product will emit a minimum of 70% of its initial light output.While lumen maintenance ratings of L50, L80 and L90 exist, L70 is most commonly used. Why?
Because the human eye cannot detect the difference in a light’s output until it
has reduced by 30%.i.e. ‘L70’ @ 35,000hours only 70% of the initial lumens
will be provided.

Stanpro Lighting Systems
5 Year Limited Warranty
Stanpro Lighting Systems warrants their LED products comply with its published
product specifications and and will be free from defect in material and workmanship
for a period of five (5) years (L70)from the date of manufacture by Stanpro Lighting
Systems.
This express limited warranty is extended by Stanpro Lighting Systems only to the
original or first end-user purchaser at the original installed location, and warranty claims
must be made in accordance with Stanpro Lighting Systems Return and Repair Procedures.
Should any defects be found, Stanpro Lighting Systems will, at its option, either repair
or replace the defective part or parts or else make available a new replacement unit
that will provide equal or better performance.
This warranty is conditioned upon proper installation, use and maintenance. This warranty is not applicable to any LED fixture which is not installed and operated in accordance with the current edition of The National Electrical Code (NEC), the Standards
for Safety of Underwriters’ Laboratories, Inc. (UL) and with Stanpro Lighting Systems
instructions and guidelines. This warranty is also not applicable to any LED fixture
subjected to abnormal stresses and operating conditions. In addition, overvoltage and
lightning protection devices must be in place.
Limitations of Liability, under no circumstances, whether as a result of breach of contract, breach of warranty, strict liability or otherwise, will Stanpro be liable for consequential, incidental, special or exemplary damages, including, but not limited to, loss
of profits, loss of use or damage to any property or equipment, cost of capital, cost
of substitute product, facilities or services, down time costs or claims from claimant’s
customers.
Stanpro’s liability for all claims of any kind or for any loss or damages arising out of,
resulting from or concerning any aspect of this warranty or from the LED products or
services furnished hereunder, shall not exceed the price of the specific LED system and
fixture which gives right to the claim.
IN NO EVENT SHALL STANPRO BE LIABLE FOR DAMAGES IN EXCESS OF THE
PURCHASE PRICE OF THE LED FIXTURE, FOR ANY LOSS OF USE, LOSS OF TIME,
INCONVENIENCE, COMMERCIAL LOSS, LOST PROFITS OR SAVINGS OR OTHER
INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES ARISING OUT OF THE USE
OR INABILITY TO USE SUCH LED FIXTURE TO THE FULL EXTENT THAT SUCH MAY
BE DISCLAIMED BY LAW.

innovative thermal design maximizes radiation and natural convection cooling that
allows the LEDs to operate at lower temperatures for extended life. Lightweight

Specifications
High Energy Savings
The Stanpro LED High Bay luminaire results in 80% energy savings compared
to traditional HID light sources. This energy conservation is directly related to the
advancement in LED technology combined with the innovative way Stanpro uses
its high efficiency OptiACTM LED driver. Additional savings are generated with the
use of our options: Occupancy Sensor, Linear Dimming, Midnight Dimming and
RTC Dimming.
Light Uniformity
In lighting applications, uniformity is more important than absolute intensity.
Lightspread technology is Stanpro’s unique LED positioning method, nearly all of
the generated light is uniformly distributed over the target area merging perfectly
with the adjacent luminaire. Light intensity is uniform throughout the area of
illumination, eliminating bright spots typically found under traditional high bay
luminaires.
Longevity
The completely sealed casing of the Stanpro high bay minimizes light depreciation
from dust and pollution. Moreover, the aging compensation algorithm of the
OptiAC LED drive ensures a uniform photometric output during the life of
the product. (LLF=0.95) No need for overlighting an installation to reach the
maintained illumination required in the lifespan of the light. The cooling system
and smart LED control results in energy optimization and extended life.

The AL series is a versatile new line of LED luminaires that provide lighting
solutions for a range of outdoor environments. Ideal applications include parking
areas, residential streets and public roadways, parks and recreation, hotels and
resorts, campuses, and wall mount architectural lighting. The AL series offers a
variety of illumination levels, controls, mounting options and accessories. The
luminaire effectively focuses light onto the task while reducing unwanted glare
and light behind the pole. Through precision optics, the AL series is a solution for
energy savings and dark sky projects. The Stanpro AL series is adjustable to six
beam widths to precisely adjust light distribution.
Features
High Energy Savings
The Stanpro AL series consumes 50 to 73% less electricity than traditional lamps.
This energy conservation is directly related to the advancement in LED technology
combined with the innovative way of Stanpro’s LightSpread technology and its
high efficiency OptiACTM LED driver. Additional savings are generated with the use
of our optional automatic midnight dimming feature.
Reduced Light Pollution
Thanks to Stanpro’s Lightspread technology, nearly all of the generated light is
uniformly distributed over the target area. Light intensity is uniform throughout the
field of illumination to a distance of 3 times the height of the lamp, reducing the
bright spot typically found under traditional streetlights.
No Lumen Depreciation
The completely sealed casing of the AL Series luminaire minimizes light
depreciation from dust and pollution. Moreover, the aging compensation algorithm
of the OptiAC LED drive ensures a uniform photometric output during the life of the
product. (LLF=0.95) No need for overlighting at installation to reach the minimal
illumination required in the lifespan of the light.
Environmental: -60°C to 45°C operating temperature. Vibration tested as per
ANSI C136.31-2001 for bridges.
LED arrays: LEDs are arranged in a series/parallel matrix for optimal reliability
and heat dissipation. Each LED uses less than 1/10th of a watt each and is
precision aimed for optimal photometric performance. Separate panel assemblies
(wings) can be field adjusted to 6 different beam patterns.
Mounting
Multiple mounting options are available providing a solution for most applications.
Optics
The luminaire provides IES Type II, or Type III distribution patterns to achieve
desired spacing requirements.
LED Driver: Auto-ranging 100-300Vac 50-60Hz input. Power factor of 0.98 and
THD<10%. Standard aging compensation algorithm insures long LED life and
uniform intensity for 14 years (end of life power consumption will be 30% more
than initial). Temperature compensation, temperature protection and lightning
protection are built-in.
Housing: Aluminum extrusions and castings finished with a super durable
electrostatically applied thermoset polyester powdercoat applied after a 5 stage
conversion cleaning process and bonded by heat fusion thermosetting. Laboratory
tested for superior weatherability and fade resistance in accordance with ASTM
B-117-64 and ANSI/ASTM G53-77 specifications. High Impact Acrylic Lens is
sealed to housing (IP66 protection).

Features
Die-cast aluminum construction provides both durability and superior heat
management to the luminaire. The custom built housing manages the heat of
the LED array through external cooling fins integrated strategically above each
diode. Tool-less entry for easy installation and field maintenance. IP66 sealed
construction for the entire luminaire provides protection for the electrical
and optical chambers withstanding harsh outdoor environments and routine
maintenance and cleaning. The chambers are completely sealed protecting it
from the intrusion of water, insects and dust. Silicon gaskets and UV stabilized
acrylic lens ensures long life and consistent performance over time.
Mounting
Multiple mounting options are available providing a solution for most
applications. Internal mount accepts 1-3/4” to 2-3/8” O.D. mounting end
and a 2-bolt clamping mechanism secures arm to luminaire. Cast-in leveling
guides provide 2.5˚ step increments for +/-5˚ vertical leveling adjustment.
Arm mount assemblies are also available for mounting to facades or poles.
Easy quick connects and disconnects, captured screws, wire strain relief, and
tool-less entry for ease of maintenance and installation are standard factoryinstalled KL series features.
Optics
Optical distribution patterns, lumen levels, and color temperatures are
interchangeable and easily replaceable. Exclusive KL series optical assembly
contains captured stainless steel screws and quick disconnects for ease of
field installation and maintenance. The luminaire provides IES Type II, Type III,
Type IV, and Type V distribution patterns.
Finish
The KL series has an enduring powder-coated finish that provides both
ultraviolet and anti-chip protection. Available in multiple RAL colors, this finish
is sure to maintain its aesthetics for years to come.
Reliability
EYE Lighting is addressing system reliability with a variety of features and
options. The aluminum printed circuit board transfers heat from the LED
packages to the custom-designed, die-cast housing. The thermal protection
control feature monitors the circuit board temperature, the self-adjusting
current control option only increases current as needed to compensate
for lumen depreciation, and the minimized number of critical components
prevents additional opportunities for premature failure.
Electrical
Separate Electrical and Optical chambers protect components from overheating and maintains operating efficiency. The LED driver mounts to the
die-cast aluminum housing for optimal heat management. A replaceable
surge protector is built to withstand 10kV of transient line surge. KL series is
rated for 60,000 hours of operation and is suitable in -35°C to 50°C ambient
conditions.
