This knowledge must be applied effectively in customer meetings to reach an understanding of what code requirements mean to challenging projects. Consequently, this position must be both skilled in meeting facilitation and proficient in problem solving. This position allows us to focus more time on interpretation and consistency, improving our responsiveness as well as the quality of our decisions. At the same time, once interpretation and consistency decisions are made, we expect this position to work closely with the other Code Administrators to significantly elevate our ability to push interpretation and consistency information out to customers. Using advanced technology, the Code Administrator position continuously works to deliver critical code compliance information to customers in a manner that works best for the various customer groups working in Mecklenburg County. The Code Administrators also play a significant role in the functioning of the Technical Advisory Board (TAB - an arm of the Building Development Commission), working closely with the TAB on both sustainable design and atypical code compliance issues. The Code Administrators are self-managed positions, reporting to the Director of Code Enforcement. This position requires strong people skills and will work closely with Project Managers of both plan review and inspections in solving project code problems.
