GST301 Gas Release Control Panel
Global System Technology (UK) PLC
The Intelligent Solution
1. Overview
GST301 Gas Release Control Panel is a stand-alone panel intended for use with gas
extinguishing systems. The function of the panel is to monitor zones or areas for fire
conditions and give an appropriate audible/visible indication. The panel also provides a
facility for initiating the gas release to achieve automatic protection, both manually and
automatically.
GST301 Gas Release Control Panel has 2 detection zones to achieve double-knock
function, and a normal detection zone for extra usage. With C-9317 Emergency
Start/Abort Switch, the Gas Release can be controlled on field.

SILENCE
Stop all sounder outputs and local alarm (panel buzzer will beep
at 0.5sON & 9.5sOFF mode). Resume by new fire/fault signal or
pressing Evacuate key. If gas release timer on running, local
alarm will not be stopped, and sounder outputs will be resume
at the last 15 seconds.
RESET
Clear all inputs, indications and outputs.
LAMP TEST
Check indicators.
AUTO ENABLE
Enable the automatic gas release function. If this function is not
enabled, the gas release will not be started even fire detected
by detectors.
EVACUATE
Start the two sounder outputs. Stop by reset.
CONTROL ENABLE
Manual control authorization. In disable mode, only LAMP
TEST and STOP keys can be operated.
OUTPUT SELECTION Switch gas release output between primary and standby.
START
Manual release control button.
STOP
Stop gas release timer (keep remain time on shown). Inhibit gas
output. Stop Sounder2 output.
ISOLATE (ISO1~4) Logically isolate corresponding terminal. Available for Zone1,
Zone2, AUX Zone and Gas Release Output. But ‘ISO4’ is only
functioning for the Automatically Gas Release, the cylinder can
still be discharged manually even it is isolated.

5. Commission tips
5.1
Configure the outputs
The sounder outputs and gas release output are default set at 24VDC Active type.
To meet the condition on site, these outputs can be changed to Normally-Open or
Normally-Close dry contact output. These output types can be configured through
X1、X2、X3、F3、F4、F5 (on the main board ).
X1 and F3 for sounder1. X2 and F4 for sounder2. X3 and F5 for gas release output.
Please refer to the below forms to set X1、X2 or X3.
Note, if configure the output type to Normally-open or Normally-close dry
contact, the current fuse(F3、F4 or F5) must be removed.
5.2
Configure the Emergency Start Switch
Press the emergency Start Switch on field can start the gas release with or without
delay. Short X1 (on the display board) to set with delay and remove the jumper to
set without delay. Default set is with delay.
5.3
Configure the discharge output
The discharge output can be started by pressure switch or directly by gas release
output. Short X2 (on the display board) to set using pressure switch, remove the
jumper to set not using pressure switch (active after gas release output). Default set
is using pressure switch.
5.4
Configure the remote output type
The discharge、fire、fault remote output types can be changed to Normally-Open or
Normally-Close dry contact type through setting X5、X4、X6. X5 for discharge

Note: If the gas release action has finished, the panel will not start timer again.
But it can be started by pressing the ‘START’ key on the panel, the action will be
kept until the pressed key released.
7. Manual Operations
7.1.1 Start gas release from the panel
Press the START button on the panel will start the gas release output without any
delay. This operation is controlled under CONTROL ENABLE switch (by key).
7.1.2 Start gas release on field.
Press the Emergency Start button on field will start the gas release output with or
without delay (configurable). This function is not inhibited by AUTO ENABLE
setting.
7.1.3 Stop gas release from panel
During the gas release delay timer, press the STOP button will stop the timer. The
output terminal will be electronically isolated. This function is not inhibited by AUTO
ENABLE and CONTROL ENABLE setting. Note, if the timer is finished and the
panel is starting the gas release action, the stop operation will not function.
7.1.4 Stop gas release on field
During the gas release delay timer, press the emergency abort switch will stop the
timer. The output terminal will be electronically isolated. This function is not inhibited
by AUTO ENABLE and CONTROL ENABLE setting. Note, if the timer is finished
and the panel is starting the gas release action, the stop operation will not
function.
7.1.5 Silence the ringing bells & alarming panel
Press the SILENCE key to stop sounder outputs and the buzzer in panel. This
operation is controlled under CONTROL ENABLE switch. Note, if the EVACUATE
key is active, the SILENCE key will not act.
7.1.6 Ring the bells
Press EVACUATE key to start the sounder outputs. This operation is controlled
under CONTROL ENABLE switch.

7.1.7 Isolate/De-isolate operation
In case of False-alarm and Fault, if the problem cannot be removed currently, to
avoid false-release and making noise, the faulty zone can be logically isolated. After
solve the problem, De-isolate to resume the functions. The Isolate/De-isolate
operation is available for Zone1, Zone2, AUX Zone and the Gas Release Output.
Press the corresponding ISO (ISO1-4) key to change the isolation condition. This
operation is controlled under CONTROL ENABLE switch.
7.1.8 Switch Standby Cylinder Output
To ensure the fire protection, the field should prepare 2 sets of gas cylinders. In
case of faulty on the primary (discharge, low pressure or other problems), switch
the output to standby terminal. Note, only the circuit on use is monitored.
8. CAUTION
1. If the cylinder’s output or the sounder’s output is set as a Normally-open
or Normally-closed type, the corresponding current fuse must be
removed!
2. ‘ISO4’ operation is only valid for gas release actions caused by
Emergency Start button and detection zones. The START button on the
panel is not under controlled. That means even the output is isolated, it
can still be active by the start button.
So, only when both ‘ISO4’ is active and ‘Control Enable’ is OFF, the gas
release output is completely inhibited.
3. If there is any serious internal error during the self-test, the panel will
show flashing ‘E0’ on the surface and start the fault remote output. In this
case, maintenance must be done.
4. For safety reasons, the panel must be properly grounded.
5. The panel must be maintained or repaired by authorised skilled person.
