An agency of the European Union Page 1 of 6 to advise the leading investigation authority, participate to the investigation and coordinate the provision of expertise to the investigation as appropriate; to coordinated and monitor the progress of actions in response to safety recommendations, in order for the Agency to act upon safety deficiencies in a coordinated and timely manner; to implement an efficient process for managing occurrences reported to the Agency under (EU) Reg. 376/2014 and other applicable occurrence reporting requirements; to monitor and report upon the progress of occurrence follow-up in the operational directorates, and to perform analysis of occurrence data in support of Continuing Airworthiness of Type Design or other needs; to contribute maintaining a high quality information database to support the day by day work of the Agency experts, as well as to contribute to the activity of identification of aviation safety hazards carried out within the Department. JOB CONTENT The job holder will be responsible for the overall functioning of the Section, including all staff management responsibilities and the process ownership responsibility for the follow-up of accidents and for occurrence reporting. Main tasks: Manage the section staff: define individual objectives and assign tasks in a balanced way, acknowledge individual and collective achievements, promote development of individual competences, provide feedback and support; Establish the Section priorities compatible with the Department and Directorate objectives; Assure timely implementation of section objectives and tasks by efficient management of the human resources, accounting both for capacities and competences; Manage the Agency’s response to accidents and serious incidents including the follow-up safety recommendations; Organise the participation to and/or follow-up of safety investigations, with the objective to support the investigation with any required agency expertise, and with the objective to support the Agency’s decision making processes in case of safety deficiencies; Ensure the implementation of a structured and efficient process for handling safety recommendations; Manage the occurrence reporting process with the objective to ensure a timely and consistent handling of incoming occurrence information, and to support the agency decision making processes on analysis of safety issues and definition of corrective actions; Ensure adequate monitoring and reporting of both main streams of activities. Essential Education in Aeronautical Engineering, Civil Aviation or other relevant subjects giving a similar background demonstrating the ability to work in the function; Proven experience in the domain of investigation of accidents and serious incidents, acquired either within a Safety Investigation Authority, within an Aviation Authority, or within Industry; Professional experience of at least 5 years in domains relevant for the the building of technical competence required for the position, such as: safety investigation, occurrence reporting and safety analysis, safety management or continuing airworthiness of type design; Knowledge of the European and International system for accident investigation and for occurrence reporting; Proven leadership and management skills with developed social competencies and preferably experience in leading teams; 2 Professional experience will be counted from the date on which the diploma was awarded.
