As the first major U.S. solar and energy storage events of the year, Intersolar and ees North America attendees get a head start with unparalleled insight into the latest trends shaping this dynamic marketplace. More than 200 internationally renowned speakers will share their insights from the frontlines of the global solar and energy storage industry, where they are advancing technologies and finding ways to continue industry success. This year the conferences will also highlight smart renewable energy topics, and, in addition attendees can visit the 45th National Solar Conference, SOLAR 2016 organized by the American Solar Energy Society (ASES). Thanks to the extended ITC till 2021, there is new energy and excitement. Just look at the market’s growth! 2015 was another record year for photovoltaics (PV) with 7.3GWp installed in the US. Residential PV was once again the fastest growing segment, with an increase of 66% from last year! At the same time, the utility segment experienced an equally strong demand with over 4GWp deployed. By the end of 2015, the US was home to 27.4GWp of total installed capacity. However, more is on the horizon. According to GTM Research, up to 16GWp of additionally deployed PV shall be connected to the grid in 2016, up 120% from 2015! Estimates suggest the cumulative solar PV installations in the U.S. will reach 100GWp by 2020. On the global scale, installed PV production potential approaches market volume in 2016. In the next few years, additional PV production using latest technologies will be established in the US. As PV in the US is becoming increasingly more cost competitive, so has the desire for energy storage. Battery prices are falling rapidly, fueled by the growth of the automotive sector. Globally, according to IHS, the energy storage pipeline reached 1.6GW with a significant share across the Americas. Against this background, PG&E announced to have awarded 75MW of storage contracts as part of its target of delivering 580MW of storage in California by 2020. Overall, it is California’s mandate to install 1,325MW of storage by 2020. We are excited about our upcoming 2016 conference and thankful for the world-class content our hard working committees have assembled. Weber Director Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems (ISE), Germany Crystalline Silicon & PV Production: Addressing the Future with a Wealth of Innovation After decades of continued developments, crystalline silicon technologies are still offering an enormous untapped potential. New concepts are leading to new efficiency levels and further cost reductions. Anticipated milestones and new approaches in light of an anticipated global demand/supply equilibrium in 2016, thus requiring substantial new investment ensuring that future demands can be met, will be shared by distinguished experts, allowing in-depth discussion on the expected developments. Burkhard Holder Head of Division ET – Energy and Smart Technology VDE Testing and Certification Institute, Germany Improving the Bankability and Investability of Solar Cutting edge risk mitigation is necessary to fulfil criteria from lenders & investors for project ‘bankability’ & ‘investability’. This is especially important in less experienced solar markets. The session will present best practices in project development, financial & technical risk management and quality assurance. Dave Renné Chair of the SOLAR 2016 National Organizing Committee American Solar Energy Society (ASES), U.S. SOLAR 2016 (by ASES) Intersolar and ees Conference participants are invited to attend the American Solar Energy Society’s SOLAR 2016 Conference. This will be your opportunity to meet and network with solar professionals and advocates to share the latest developments on progress towards 100% renewable energy at local, regional and global levels. Bernadette Del Chiaro Executive Director California Solar Energy Industries Association (CALSEIA), U.S. California Solar Energy Industries Association (CALSEIA) Conference Sessions Companies need to have accurate information and strategic insights in a rapidly evolving industry.
