The Saskatchewan Interactive home screen will look like this;
To begin, turn the map layers on by clicking the Map Layers button on
the bottom left hand side of the screen.
The map layers will appear in the information panel to show all the
available map layers.
In our case, we are looking for the Forest Inventory maps so we will turn
on the Forestry layer.
Once the forestry layer is turned on, click the + symbol beside the check
box to show the sub layers available. In this case we will need to turn on
the SFVI Forest Inventory Index and UTM Forest Inventory Index layers.
Once the layers are turned on, zoom in to the area of interest by scrolling your mouse wheel forward.
When you have the desired area in the screen, click the Identify button on the toolbar located above the
map under the Basic Tools tab. After clicking the Identify Features tool, click on the area of interest.
You can also identify the area of interest by right clicking the area
and clicking on What’s Here in the drop down list.
The results will appear in the
information panel on the left hand
side of the screen. To access the
forest inventory maps, click on the
results and the dialogue box for
that layer will appear.
Under the Details tab in the layer dialogue box, click the Forest Inventory PDF link and the forest
inventory map will pop up in a new window.
If you would like to search for a specific forest inventory mapsheet, an example on how to do this is
demonstrated as follows;
To begin, make sure the SFVI Forest Inventory Index and UTM Forest Inventory Index sub layers under
the Forestry layer are turned on.
After ensuring the appropriate layers are turned on, type in the mapsheet number into the Search bar
found at the top right corner of the screen. In this case, we will search for mapsheet 1346604. After you
type in the mapsheet number, click Enter or click the
button.
The search results will appear in the information panel on the left hand side of the screen and will be
pointed out on the map. All the layers that are turned on will show results in the information panel.
In our case, we want the SFVI Forest Inventory Index and UTM Forest Inventory Index layers, so when
we click on the SFVI Inventory Index result, the dialogue box appears. Under the Details tab, click the
Forest Inventory PDF link to open the forest inventory map.
