Helpful tips: You need to call Special Child Health Services, Case Mgt Units (SCHSCMUs), who will assign an "intake coordinator" to your case. This person will complete
an assessment and help to complete all documents related to receiving services, and can
always be reached for any questions. Each county in NJ has their own office, so you need
to contact the office in your county.

Medicaid Waiver:

Helpful tips: There are several different Medicaid waiver programs. Of those, only two
might be applicable for a child with CdLS. One is a Department of Human Services
Waiver, called CRPD, or Community Resources for People with Disabilities. The other is
a Community Care Waiver through the DDD. For this waiver however, your child must
be registered with the DDD.

Early Intervention Services (for child under three):

Helpful tips: A case manger will be assigned to you during this period for any questions
you may have. There are also four nonprofit organizations called Regional Early
Intervention Collaboratives (REICs) to provide technical assistance to families. Each of
the organizations pertains to different counties in NJ. You would contact whichever one
was applicable to your county.

Helpful tips: Each school district has its own child study teams which includes a school
psychologist (your case mgr), speech-language pathologist, teacher and social worker.
The child study team evaluates the child when they are eligible for schooling (ages 3-21).
