System description Level Crossing Protection System SPN-900 The SPN-900 system is composed by five cabinets located trackside in its standard configuration. The first cabinet called "Central Cabinet" is located near the level crossing, the others are: two "Proximity Sensor Cabinet" and two "Railway Signal Cabinet", distributed on either side. Functionally protection sequence is: Phase 1. Detection. The Axle Sensor Detector (SDE-900) detects a train axle over it, then the Proximity Sensor Cabinet and notifies the Central Cabinet that a train is incoming. Phase 2. Protection. The Central Cabinet receives the indication of a train incoming enabling all the level crossing protection measures (lights, bells, gates,...) and checking for proper operation. Depending on whether everything is ok, notifing the Railway Signal Cabinet wich signal will show to the train. Phase 2. Liberation. After the train leaves the level crossing, all the protection systems return to standby.
