Product description
LEUTRON SPD type EP 802/20kA-Tr serves as a Lightning and Surge Protective Device (SPD) installed at the
power supply side of DC equipments and systems. One SPD protects 2 lines (+ and -).
This LEUTRON - EnerPro SPD is equipped with a safety disconnection device which will response safely and cut
off the SPD from net, if the built-in MOV would be thermally overloaded by a too high leakage current. In such
case, the green operating indication LED will extinguish and the SPD has to be replaced.
The thermic coupled remote signal contact (option) signalise that the SPD was overloaded and should be
replaced before the SPD is cut-off from net, because of safety reason.
The protective circuit is completely molded in Polyurethane and is built in an easy to install Polycarbonate
housing to snap on a 35mm DIN-rail (EN50022). Large multifunctional terminals for connection of bus-bars and
conductors for easy and safe wiring together with other DIN rail mounted devices.
Application
This robust and rigid protective device serves to protect DC- and photovoltaic systems against damages caused
by lightning surges.
If used in photovoltaic systems (PV) the EP 802/20kA-Tr should be preferred to install in the PV-generator
connection box. Because the inverse rectifier probably is installed several meters far away, it is unprotected.
Therefore SPDs of same types as installed at the generator output has to be installed at the DC-side of the
inverse rectifier too.
