Jesus Christ through the building of a vibrant Catholic community of

When Have We Had Enough?
In our Old Testament reading today, Elijah
had enough. One of the greatest prophets
was not just tempted to give up, he
practically did so. Is it any wonder then
that similar situations can test us all? The
journey to heaven is long and treacherous
and can seem as barren as the desert that
stretched out endlessly before the prophet.

Shrine?
As we begin preparations for our 2015 Walking Pilgrimage to
the Shrine, we invite parishioners to help if you would like.
We appreciate donations of water for the walkers or a dish for
one of the meals. As we make stops along the route, we
sometimes have people or groups deliver a meal on location.
If you would like to help in that way, please submit your
receipts. You will receive directions to our location for the
day of your delivery. Please join us for the meal; we would
love to see you. Thank you to all who have helped in the past.
If you plan to walk with us on September 11-13, contact
Deacon Bruce at 766-3773 so he can get details to you.
You are welcome to walk one, two or all three days. If you
can’t make it on a certain day, feel free to come to all evening

AUGUST 9, 2015 19TH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME

Hey! Let’s invite family and
friends this year so they can
enjoy the day, too!
A Fun Camping Theme
Jesus said to the crowds: “No one can come to me unless
the Father who sent me draw him, and I will raise him on
the last day. It is written in the prophets: They shall all be
taught by God. Everyone who listens to my Father and
learns from him comes to me. Not that anyone has seen the
Father except the one who is from God; he has seen the
Father. Amen, amen, I say to you, whoever believes has
eternal life. I am the bread of life. Your ancestors ate the
manna in the desert but they died; this is the bread that
comes from heaven so that one may eat it and not die. I am
the living bread that came down from heaven; whoever eats
this bread will live forever; and the bread that I will give is
my flesh for the life of the world.”
This year, we are asking for
donations of camping gear.
One of our Live Auction items will have a camping theme.
We already have a camp kitchen to start off, but now we’re
looking for donations of new camp chairs, sleeping bags,
dishes, tents, cookware, back packs, stoves, or whatever your
creative camping mind can think of. If you feel so inclined to
add to this Live Auction Camping Package, call the rectory.
The Gospel of the Lord.
Praise to you, Lord, Jesus Christ!
It’s time to bring in large glass pickle jars, new craft items for
the Craft Room and Chance Booth, and to start thinking about
ministry baskets. Watch for items in your closets that might
work for the This ‘n’ That Rummage Sale. Bring items
during office hours to parish garages. Please help if you can.
Reflection
Jesus declares that the bread that he
gives is his flesh “for the life of the
world.” At the Eucharist, do we see
ourselves participating in an action
that is meant to ripple outward for the
world’s salvation? The components
of the Eucharist are meant to form in
us a pattern that brings life far beyond
the church doors. We practice the art
of “gathering,” of “listening” to the Word, of “sacrificing”
all that we are, to draw closer to one another in
“communion.” As you participate in the Eucharist, imagine
yourself lifting the world up to the Father in Christ for its
healing, bringing all people together in life.
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of
the Holy Spirit.
