Preamble:
In the Government order cited above, certaiti financial powers to
the officers of the Public Works and Water Resources Departments were
.delegated with a view to securing expeditious discharge of the duties.
These powers"have not been revised/enhanced for a long time. The Board
of Chief Engineers has deliberated the issue of the revision of tmancial
powers on 15-10-2008 and after detailed deliberations, the Board ofehief
Engineers recommended revision of delegation of powers and sent to
Govt. for consideration.
The powers delegated to various officers for according
administrative and technical sanction as per item Nos. (I) & (2) of the
Government order dt.IS-12-94 read above are as follows:

Note: 1. In regard to works initiated by or connected with the
requirements of administrative department, administrative approval has to
be accorded by the administrative department concerned.
2. Revised administrative sanction/approval should be obtained if the
amount of detailed estimates exceed the amount of the administrative
sanction/approval by more than 15%.
3. Irrigation works include water supply and drainage works also.
4. Repairs to motor vehicles is governed by the provisions of item no.40
of Rule 55 of MCE.
5. "works" include all items as defined in para 4 (66) ofKPWD code­
voLI.

Chief Engineers and taking into account the increase in the present day
cost of labour and material and with the objective of securing speedy and
efficient execution of works, Government have decided to enhance the
existing financial powers of the Public Works and Water
