MINIMAL FIXTURES.
MAXIMAL IMPACT
We design light that creates, reflects, and exposes beauty,
from fixtures that don’t draw attention to themselves.
Lucifer Lighting was born out of a love for light. We were once
owners of high-end department stores and began to manufacture lights that would showcase our products. We wanted
invisible sources that created stunning illumination.
So we hired engineers who know how to manage heat as well
as light and are experienced in creating maximum light from
innovative sources. We teamed with industrial designers using the latest technology to develop the slenderest profiles,
the most compact housings. We conferred with interior designers and architects to understand their real-world needs
and out-of-the-box ideas.
Our goal, like yours, has always been the same: to increase
people’s ability to see, enjoy, appreciate, and experience
every nuance of special objects, fine art, haute cuisine, and
unique space. It’s all about creating lights that create experiences.

Lucifer Lighting is a third-generation, family-owned company.
Over our 30 years of operation, we have grown from a specialty manufacturer to a global resource for world class architects, designers and developers who specify our products for
everything from high-rise hotels and urban financial centers,
to flagship retail stores and four-star restaurants, to private
homes and specialty museums.
All of this growth has been informed by our passion for art
and deep connections to the design community: we are art
dealers and collectors and our philanthropic arm funds
museums and arts organizations as well as lighting design
and architectural associations and scholarships, and founder/
president Gilbert Mathews is an Honorary Member of the
American Institute of Architects.
All our products are designed, prototyped, and manufactured
at our 13-acre, 90,000 square foot, San Antonio, Texas headquarters. This facility is where we bring together old-world
craftsmen, skilled machine operators, and high-tech engineers to work with the latest CAD software, CNC machinery,
robotic assembly, and metal fabrication equipment to provide
the innovative design, rapid prototyping, and round-the-clock
manufacturing that meets designers’ needs and developers’
schedules.
We are also committed to sustainability in its broadest sense.
Of course we use wind-energy, daylighting, xeriscaping, highefficiency HVAC systems, and post-consumer recycled packaging. But we also use the most sustainable sources of light,
with our own specialized drivers that maximize output and efficiency. And we select sources that will not only last, but will
retain color temperature and rendition over an entire lifetime
of use. Which means you get the effect you want and users
get the experience they love for years and years to come.

Lucifer Lighting created the industry’s first dual-axis, gear
driven downlights with 45 degree aim and superior center
beam optics. This unique fixture features two concealed, selflocking, internal gear trains that allow trim rotation, tilt and
hot-aim to be precisely-adjusted from the room side, with the
light on, so you can see the effect as it’s being created. All
adjustment mechanisms are concealed by the fixture faceplate, which is easily removed to provide immediate access to
the lampholder.

Wallwashers provide uninterrupted areas of soft light from
the floor to the ceiling, without scallops or harsh lines
breaking up the illumination between fixtures. Wallwashing is enhanced by the use of three fixtures or more and
is not recommended for polished, gloss, or specular surfaces, which would cause distracting reflections. To create
desired effect, careful attention to suggested spacing is

capable design families. Mirage wallwashers excel in precise
wall grazing applications, while Lensed wallwashers provide
MIRAGE WALLWASHERS
To draw attention to texture or to create the appearance
of glowing walls, Mirage wallwashers feature a slightly
angled lamp directed at a kick reflector to create an even
graze of light from the top of the ceiling line to the floor.
This effect requires tighter fixture spacing than some
other wallwash effects.

The Y Series offers larger scale fixtures in elegant proportions and profiles to for use in high-ceilinged spaces like
hotel lobbies, auditoriums and museums. Designed for
use with 111mm reflector sources, including the AR111,

halogen, HID and powerful LED sources up to 3000lm.
Baffles are available in black, grey, metallic grey, and
white. All fixtures accept 2 effects devices and may be
installed zero-sightline or flange overlay.

The Series 2000-3000 Light Strip is available for use with
AC LED festoon style lamps, as well as xenon and incandescent festoon lamps. A 12” (305mm) minimum-bending
radius allows it to be mounted in concave or convex
applications, while a patented, continuous, integrated,
solid brass bus bar balances heat management through
the strip, eliminating the possibility of discoloration or
burnout. For maximum connection flexibility, strips can be
specified with crimp-on spade connectors, integral j-box,
or molded plug connector. A range of accessories is available, including metal extrusions that conceal the source
and halogen inserts for concentrated bursts of light. Light
strips come in one-foot or half meter nominal increments
up to 16 feet (4.9m), but can be custom made to specification or field-cut. Series 2000 profile is gloss white for high
and even integration. Series 3000 profile is black for color
integration with black halogen socket accessories.

path of egress lighting. Made of 316 cast stainless steel or
bronze, multiple mounting options are available. 50,000

These fixtures are 3W – the Double Impact uses 6W – dimmable, AC LED luminaries that feature regressed apertures
with lensed optics and come with a gasket for IP65 wet
location rating. Color temperature is a warm, 3000K. These
fixtures also accept colored gels.
Finishes. Finishes include powder coated black, white,
metallic gray, and architectural bronze; industrial gray and

Light emitting diodes are highly efficient, solid state sources
that can offer point source lighting. Available in a wide range
of whites and discrete colors, with a range of color rendering
properties, LEDs do not emit harmful IR (infrared) or UV (ultra- violet) radiation, do not contain mercury, and emit minimal
heat. Recent advancements in LED technology make them
an excellent alternative to halogen and metal halide sources.
Their small size brings them close to the optimal point source
and creates a range of opportunities for energy efficient lighting design.
Halogen lamps are incandescent lights that use filaments
originally developed for the automotive industry. Those in the
MR (multifaceted reflector) configuration are known for their
precision and variably focused beam that uses IR (infrared)
technology to efficiently pack light at 24 lumens per watt, offering higher wattage performance at lower wattage consumption. Because their color temperature is similar to sunlight,
color, texture, skin tones, fabrics, and food all look natural
under halogen lights. Special halogen IR lamps contain no
mercury, are energy efficient, offer instant-on, and are easily
dimmable, making them a versatile choice.

High intensity discharge lamps are an arc source, often
referred to as metal halide. Usually thought of as very high
wattage, large area light sources, low wattage, ceramic
metal halide HID lamps offer an energy-efficient alternative
to standard incandescent light sources, with similar color
temperature and rendition. They are effective in applications where instant-on, instant re-strike, or dimming are not
required, such as high-ceiling interiors, retail stores, public
spaces, or residential exteriors where the fixtures are operating on controls.
Compact fluorescent lamps are an arc source that use less
power and have a longer life than incandescent lamps, but
their color temperature and rendition is not as natural. Also,
though they efficiently radiate diffuse light over a broad area,
they do not focus well, so are not suited for accent lighting.
While they are extremely energy efficient, they do contain
small amounts of mercury which complicates disposal options and raises questions about their environmental impact.

STEP 1. The installed housing rotatable collar or international split
ceiling collar protrudes down through the ceiling cut-out.
STEP 2. The appliqué and collar are aligned and secured with provided
screws.
STEP 3. The first pass of plaster compound falls slightly below the
appliqué plaster flange. The second pass extends slightly beyond the
plaster flange.
STEP 4. A block sander is used to sand the plaster compound flush
with the top lip surface of the appliqué plaster flange.
STEP 5. The ceiling may be painted as normal and then paint/ plaster
plug removed.
STEP 6. A zero-sightline compatible downlight installs into the appliqué with faceplate sitting perfectly flush with finished ceiling surface.
STEP 2
Housings come direct from the factory ready to accept the
zero-sightline kit which simplifies flush fit installation.
Simply frame in the housing, apply drywall, then align the
screw holes on the appliqué with those on the rotatable
collar on the housing, and secure. The rotating collar is a
Lucifer Lighting innovation that makes it fast and easy to
align successive square trims in a ceiling—the trim orientation can be rotated after the housing is installed but before
the spackle is applied. After the appliqué is spackled and
painted, the downlight itself is installed.
