How do I get to Glasgow?

Glasgow International Airport offers excellent air links with direct flights from Dubai, Canada, USA,

Europe and UK. You can also travel to Glasgow by train from many UK cities. Glasgow Kelvin College offers a free pickup service for overseas students from Glasgow International Airport to their accommodation within Glasgow City Centre.

Is Glasgow Kelvin College a Tier 4 Sponsor registered the UK Border Agency?

How old do I need to be to study at Glasgow Kelvin College?

We are licensed with the Home Office to offer course places to international adult students who are aged 18 and over at the start date of their proposed studies.

How long will I study per week in order to retain my Tier 4 study visa?

International students are required to study on a full time basis i.e. a minimum of 15 hours per week as detailed in their course timetable.

Are you a public funded College?

Yes, Glasgow Kelvin College is funded by the Scottish Government.

Can I work during my studies?

Tier 4 students are no longer allowed to take up employment while studying in Scotland.

Information and details can be obtained from the Home Office and your visa document.

What course levels can I study at Glasgow Kelvin College?

We offer a wide range of internationally recognised qualifications at various entry levels depending on your previous school/college certification and English language:

Higher National Certificate (SCQF 7) – 1 year

Foundation Degree (Higher National Diploma) – (SCQF level 7/8) – 2 years

UK Undergraduate Degree (SCQF Level 9/10) – 1 or 2 years.

Please note that a Higher National Certificate and Higher National Diploma are equivalent to Year 1 and Year 2 of a UK Undergraduate degree course however the fees are much cheaper compared with university fees.

What level of school leaving certification do I require to study at Glasgow Kelvin College?

International students are required to have successfully completed 12 years of education in their own country and provide evidence of their school leaving certificates translated into English, if necessary.

What level of English language do I require?

You need to prove your knowledge of the English language when you apply to Glasgow Kelvin

College. You can do this by passing an English language test - it must be on the Home Office list of approved tests and providers.

If you are following a course of study below SCQF 9, the college must check that you are competent in English language at minimum level B1 of the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) in each of the four components. If you are going to study at or above level SCQF 9 you must be competent at CEFR level B2.

Course requirements:

English language: IELTS ??

Below degree level/HNC (SCQF 9): IELTS 5.5 overall score, or equivalent

Degree HND and above (SCQF 9 and above): IELTS 6.5 overall, no component less than 6.0, or equivalent.

When can I start my course?

Our main intake is at the end of August each year with degree courses starting 2 weeks later.

When can I submit my application for August 2016?

You can submit your application up to 19 June 2016 in order that we can process your application and supply you with the necessary paperwork to support your visa application. international@glasgowkelvin.ac.uk

How do I apply to Glasgow Kelvin College?

You can apply online through our website www.glasgowkelvin.ac.uk. Alternatively, you can contact our International Coordinator (international@glasgowkelvin.ac.uk) who will be happy to email an application form to you.

In order to process your completed application form, you will also need to submit the following supporting evidence:

Certified copies of your educational certificates translated into English, if necessary

Valid Home Office approved English language qualification (i.e. IELTS etc.)

A copy of your passport information page, front cover and any immigration stamps

A recent passport sized colour photograph.

All previous immigration status documents including leave to remain if applicable.

If your application is successful, we will send you a conditional offer.

How can I pay my tuition fees?

You can pay your tuition fees via bankers draft, bank transfer, debit card and credit card. You can also pay cash in person at our Finance Office. Full details will be sent to you with your conditional offer letter. You must pay your full tuition fees in advance of receiving your CAS/unconditional offer.

When will the College issue the CAS letter to support my visa application?

Once you have fulfilled the conditions of your offer i.e. payment of tuition fees etc., the college will issue your CAS (Confirmation of Acceptance of Studies) Statement which will support your visa application and your unconditional offer letter. You are required to enter your unique CAS number in the appropriate page of your visa application before you submit it to the Visa Office.
