HBBP Salsa; A tasty start-up at
Satsop Business Park
When Chayne King, founder of Brady
Homestead, LLC and his son, Kalan
decided they were ready to start
producing their popular HBBP salsa for
retail, he remembered the commercial
kitchen at the Satsop Business Park
from when he began working in the
technology industry years ago.
Brady Homestead began utilizing the
Park’s commercial kitchen in April and
have been increasing production ever
since. HBBP salsa is now available for
retail sale at the Elma Farm Stand, Jay’s
Farmstand III in Shelton, Farm Fresh
Market in Olympia, Jeremy’s Farm to
Table in Chehalis and All Wrapped Up
in Montesano.
“The Park’s kitchen has been a great
fit for us as we look to expand our retail
sales in Grays Harbor and beyond,”
explained King. “You won’t forget the
salsa once you’ve tried it.”
Kalan King shows off of a fresh batch of salsa that is
produced in the commercial kitchen at the Satsop
Business Park. Brady Homestead prides itself on using
fresh, quality organic ingredients in its HBBP Salsa.

Hesco Armor celebrates 3 years at
PGH Coastal Innovation Zone
A majority of the 34 employees pose for a picture in front of Hesco Armor’s facility at the
Coastal Innovation Zone where they manufacture state-of-the-art body armor for protectors
around the World.
What started as an innovative
product concept has turned into a
global supplier of body armor and a
solid employer in Grays Harbor.
Hesco Armor, LLC, located in the
Port of Grays Harbor’s Innovation
Partnership Zone, began in 2012
with just 3 ½ employees as Reed
Composite Solutions. With a solid
business plan the company
developed new products, grew their
business, and was purchased by a
global armor provider and now
employs more than 30 people.
Recent successes for HESCO
include a contract to armor the U.S.
Capitol Police, Containment and
Emergency Response Team (CERT).
CERT is one of the most elite
federal tactical teams and has
exclusive jurisdiction within the
United States Capitol Grounds.
Another large victory for Hesco
was a 5-year contract with the
Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) for
body armor plates.
“Hesco’s continued growth and
success demonstrate how
innovation and partnerships can
develop strong businesses on
Washington’s Coast,” reports Port
Commission President Stan Pinnick.
“We congratulate them on their
success and look forward to
watching them continue to grow as
they protect our protectors.”

Earlier this month, Westport, LLC launched this 112 foot yacht from its Hoquiam facility at
the Port of Grays Harbor's 28th Street Boat Launch. A showcase of Grays Harbor
craftsmanship, large components of this luxury yacht were constructed at the company’s
Westport location and assembled at the Hoquiam plant. Over 200 people are employed
between the two locations producing some of the finest luxury yachts in the world.
Currently, three 112’ yachts are produced each year and the company forecasts growth.

Trade, manufacturing and history highlight 4th grade
field trips; public tour dates announced
The Port of Grays Harbor wrapped
up the fifth year of 4th grade tours
earlier this month with more than 700
students, teachers and parents from
throughout Grays Harbor County
coming to see first-hand what the Port
does in their community. Students
learned how the Port was established,
the role it plays in international trade,
and the many types of jobs the Port
and its tenants create.
Prior to their visit, all students are
provided with Port of Grays Harbor
based curriculum which addresses
grade-level standards in the areas of
math, reading and history.
Upon arrival, the students are given
a brief overview presentation and
then board their buses for a tour of
the Port’s industrial properties and
marine terminals.
Port tenants AGP and Paneltech
provided giveaways for all of the
students.
Transportation for the tours was
provided at no cost to the
participating schools thanks to the
Gladys Philips Cultural Tours Grant
via the Grays Harbor Community
Foundation.
Tour Coordinator, Betsy Seidel, gives a brief presentation
to 4th grade students before the marine terminals tour.
