Assessment Technique Collection of Work Collection of Work Collection of Work Collection of Work Collection of Work Collection of Work Collection of Work Collection of Work Grading At Level 3 a Learner is graded as Successful or Referred. Successful means that ALL the learning outcomes from the Component Specification have been demonstrated to an appropriate standard in the Learner’s portfolio of assessment. Referred means that the portfolio of assessment needs further work by the Learner before s/he can demonstrate the standard and achieve certification from FETAC. Graphic Design 3N0584 7 Specific Information Relating to the Assessment Techniques The Assessor is required to devise assessment briefs for the Collection of Work. In devising the assessment briefs, care should be taken to ensure that the Learner is given the opportunity to show evidence of achievement of ALL learning outcomes. Collection of Work 100% The collection of work may be produced throughout the duration of this programme module. The Learner will compile a collection of work that contains evidence for ALL the learning outcomes. The collection of work should include a minimum of five examples of print communication, demonstrating the following: • The use of a range of typographical standards • The use of a variety of graphic design techniques • The use of a variety of printing techniques • The communication of an idea using a simple graphic image and including the use of a variety of media techniques to construct the image • Published text, free from spelling error and with due consideration to layout, punctuation, sentence and paragraph layout • A document consisting of both text and graphics, produced within an agreed time scale and demonstrating due regard to cost In producing the collection of work the Learner should demonstrate due consideration of: • the content of the printed communication • the target audience • the purpose of the printed communication • the message or idea being communicated In addition to the above the Learner will also demonstrate the ability to: • describe the processes involved in producing graphic and textual printed materials • identify a range of printed materials which combines text and image to communicate an idea or information All instructions for the Learner should be clearly outlined in an assessment brief. If group work or teamwork forms part of the assessment, then each Learner’s achievement must be separately assessed.
