He received his B.S. and M.S. degrees in Mechanical Engineering from National Cheng Kung University in 1985 and 1987, respectively. He also received an M.S. in 1994 and a Ph.D. in 1996 in Electrical Engineering from the University of Illinois at Chicago. Dr. Lin’s main research interests include Bio-MEMS, microfluidic systems and nanotechnology in biomedical applications. From July 2008 to June 2009, he was a visiting professor at IMTEK, University of Freiburg, Germany. From July to August 2009, he was an invited professor at Ecole Normale Superieure, Paris, France. He was the TPC Chair of APCOT 2008 and also the General Chair of IEEE NANOMED 2009 conference. He also served as the Organizing Chair of IEEE Sensors 2012. From 2004 to 2007, he was as a member of the international advisory board of the journal Lab on a Chip, and he is currently a senior editor of the Journal of Micro/Nanolithography, MEMS, and MOEMS, an associate editor of IEEE Sensors journal, and an Editorial Board Member of Journal of Micromechanics and Microengineering. Dr. Lin became a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry in 2008, and in 2009, a distinguished professor of National Cheng Kung University. Dr. Lin became a Fellow of the international society for optics and photonics (SPIE) in 2012 and a Fellow of the Institution of Engineering and Technology in 2013.
