The conference vicinity is a historical place for cosmic radiation scientists. The Austrian Nobel Prize winner and cosmic radiation discoverer, Victor Hess, worked in his mountain laboratory at 2300 m of altitude. A visit to this lab is planned during the conference. The Ötztal valley is well known for the so called “Ötzi”, the Iceman, a well-preserved natural mummy of a man from about 3300 BC (53 centuries ago). Famous touristic places within the Ötztal are Sölden, Obergurgl, and Hochgurgl up to 3000 m altitude. Well known and nearby are also Meran (Italy), the castle Neuschwanstein (Germany), Swarovski Kristallwelten at Wattens, and the Mozart town Salzburg. The Munich Oktoberfest is organized at the same time and as well as after the conference. Moreover, the location offers fantastic mountain sceneries and the possibility of hiking tours along the 150 km of marked trails along the Ötztal valley. The friendly environment and the close contact with the lovely nature will encourage discussions between the attendees. The Aqua Dome Spa offers excellent recreation after the conference day, with your family, friends or colleagues. Together with outstanding Austrian food and wine your stay will be relaxing and enjoyable.
