Vertical Illumination
In demanding industrial spaces such as power plants, water-treatment
areas and industrial processing facilities, the total visual environment must
be considered. Proper vertical illumination is critical for reading caution and
hazard signs, identifying gauges and dials pertinent to the production and
safety of the facility – even when driving equipment such as forklifts.
The facility renderings to the right simulate vertical illumination of the
Petrolux LED against the competition when fixture spacing is the same.
The Petrolux LED provides a uniformly lit workspace for an optimal mix
of light on vertical and horizontal work surfaces.

The highly engineered Petrolux LED luminaire maximizes spacing, improves visibility and reduces overall total cost of ownership for
the life of the product. Applied lumens, a measure of how well light is distributed in a given space, is a major performance indicator
for LED light engines.
The example below illustrates applied lumens, comparing the Petrolux LED to a competing LED industrial luminaire and a 100W HPS
industrial luminaire. The application is a 4’ walkway with a 10’ mounting height. The lighting requirements are 5.0 FC maintained
with a 3.0:1 avg./min. uniformity ratio. The Petrolux LED delivers 29% increased spacing.
