Double busbar system for optimized network availabilty
The metal-enclosed medium voltage switchgear WBD is available at rated
voltages up to 12 kV, rated currents up to 3150 A and rated short time
withstand current up to 31.5 kA. WBD is characterized by a space saving
design, and it ensures high personnel safety in case of an internal fault.
The vacuum circuit breakers, switch disconnectors and vacuum contactors
are mounted on easy-to-handle and precisely operating slide-in modules.
Thanks to the modular construction and functional front panel design, easy
access to the individual functional cubicle compartments for inspections and
maintenance is ensured.
The partition class LSC 2B-PM (Loss of Service Continuity) double busbar
system with metallic partition (PM) offers enhanced operational flexibility and
service continuity during network upgrading or maintenance. The double
busbar systems are switched by disconnectors that act as system switches,
which are electromechanically interlocked, both mutually and in relation to
the circuit breaker.
The switchboards can be extended on both ends without busbar outage.

Safety and ease of operation
WBD’s double busbar system ensures high operating safety thanks to its
metallic partition. The cubicle’s compartments are segregated by earthed
metal panels.

Moreover each compartment incorporates independent pressure relief
flaps and completely separated gas exhausts, avoiding pollution in other
compartments in case of internal arc fault. The gases are expelled at the
top of the cubicle for improved safety.
All operations are performed with the front door closed. A comprehensive
range of mechanical interlocks reinforced by interrogation interlocks prevent
operational errors. These intelligent security interlocks are immune to external
force, resulting in a safer environment for both plant and personnel. The
metallic busbar and cable connection compartment cladding is provided with
pressure-tight shutters. They ensure protection against accidential contact
even when the module has been slide out.
The design of WBD ensures excellent individual compartment accessibility.
The horizontal metal plate between cable connection and circuit breaker
compartment can be quickly and easily demounted, giving access for
installation, inspection and testing in the cable connection compartment.
In addition, the spacious low voltage compartment makes access to the
various switching devices for routine protection tests comfortable, even with
maximum equipment.
