ISO 9001 Since 1994 - UL Listed Since 2001
We are ISO 9001 certified. Customer satisfaction, quality and reliability are the essence of our policy. Our standard
construction design is in compliance with ANSI/IEEE Std. C37.23 and meets or exceeds the requirements of IEC and
CSA.
The Power Conductors & Joints System
power conductor material is either Copper ASTM Designation B187 or
OurAluminum
ASTM Designation B236. TECHNIBUS conductors are designed
™
to have sufficient cross section so as not to exceed acceptable temperature
limits when operated at rated continuous current or during short circuit
conditions.
Maintenance free bus joints utilize splice plates of a special configuration
which have a cross-sectional area equal to, or greater than, that of the main
bus to improve current equalization.
TECHNIBUS™ joints are manufactured from silver-plated copper or tin-plated
aluminum to maintain low contact resistance for long, trouble-free operation.
Adjustable bus joints are provided to compensate for normal installation
tolerances and to allow for the removal of individual bus sections without
disassembly of adjacent sections.
All joints are assembled with high-strength hardware including heavy-duty,
load-bearing flat washers which provide over 4,000 pounds of clamping force
per bolt. Bolt patterns are proportional to current rating.
Belleville spring washers are standard for aluminum bus joints. All bus joints are
adjustable to compensate for normal installations tolerances.
Insulation System
low voltage bus systems are not insulated. For
Standard
600 - 1500V, insulation is optional. 5kV through 38kV
conductors are fully insulated and foil tested in
accordance with ANSI/IEEE Std. C37.23, Section 6.2.1.4.
Cycloalaphatic epoxy is standard, using a process which
provides the highest quality insulation system available.
This provides high dielectric strength, excellent chemical
resistance and durable mechanical characteristics. The
epoxy is bonded to the busbars thus eliminating air gaps
which could initiate corona problems.

Isolated Phase Bus
For Main Generator Leads with current ratings from 3kA up to 50 kA, Isolated Phase Bus is the solution.
Isolated
Phase Bus systems are used exclusively for Main Generator Leads where minimal external electro-magnetic fields and
maximum phase to phase fault protection is required.
TECHNIBUS offers a complete line of Isolated Phase Bus systems for those situations calling for high currents with
maximum integrity. TECHNIBUS can provide self-cooled ratings up to 31 kA continuous. For forced-air cooled ratings
Conductor
Enclosure
The conductor consist of high
conductivity aluminum. Depending
on the diameter required, extruded
tubes or tubes rolled from plate metal
are used. The tube’s shape permits
exact calculation of current
displacement and heat dissipation as
well as the short circuit forces.
Aluminum expansion elements with
welded connections allow for
thermal expansion of the conductor.
Maintenance is not required.
Enclosures are also made of high
conductivity aluminum.
The enclosures are manufactured
from rolled sheet or plate of variable
diameters and wall thickness and
are welded together by using the
inert-gas-shielded-arc process. High
strength aluminum enclosures require
minimal support allowing a free
choice of the fixed points. Expansion
joints in the form of aluminum
bellows provided at the terminations
permit thermal expansion.
Post Insulators
Cast resin post insulators support the conductor and are arranged in the enclosure so as to ensure the proper
clearance in air between the conductor and grounded enclosure. A sliding surface provided at the post insulator
head permits relative movement between enclosure and conductor in an axial direction. One insulator of each
support system is equipped with an adjustable spring-type element for compensating any variance in tube
diameter during mounting as well as any conductor movement caused by a short-circuit.
