The history of Induction
The technology is far from new. Nikola Tesla demonstrated induction lighting
in the late 1890’s around the same time that his rival, Thomas Edison, was
working to improve the incandescent light bulb. In the early 1990’s, several
major lighting manufacturers introduced induction lighting into the marketplace in Canada and around the world.
Advantages of Induction Lighting
The initial cost is higher than many HID systems but still, substantially lower
than LED powered fixtures of equivalent light distribution.
Stanpro Induction fixtures offer the following advantages:

A typical installation example
An indoor games court initially used 6 - 250W MH highbay luminaries.
The court was upgraded with 4 – 150W induction lamp fixtures; this resulted
in a power reduction of 24% and at the same time, an increased illuminace
at floor level of 51%. Power consumption dropped from 3.5W per lux to only
1.7W per lux. For all users, there was a noticeable improvement in colour
rendering.
As a side benefit, the air conditioning load was reduced by 120W.

Electromagnetic transformers, consisting of ferrite rings with metal coils, create an electromagnetic
field around a gas-filled tube, using a high frequency
that is generated by electronic ballast.
The discharge path, induced by the coils, forms a
closed loop causing acceleration of free electrons,
which collide with mercury atoms and excite the electrons. As the excited electrons from these atoms fall
back from this higher energy state to a lower stable
level, they emit ultraviolet radiation.
The UV radiation created is converted to visible
light as it passes through a phosphor coating on the
surface of the tube. The shape of the induction lamp
maximizes the efficiency of the fields that are generated.
The ballast generates the high frequency current
that drives the inductivity coupled discharge. The
ballast contains an integrated circuit (IC) chip, which
controls the operating frequency and allows the electrodeless fluorescent lamp to work properly with a
ballast power factor of up to .99 for lower power consumption. This control feature is especially beneficial
where fluctuations in the power supply are more than
10% of rated voltage. The ballast also meets EMC requirements and the circuit board is designed to resist
dust, humidity and corrosion.
With no filaments and electrodes to burn out and
because the induced magnetic field can easily pass
through the glass wall of the lamp bulb, these unique
lamps can last up to 100 000 hours, making them
virtually maintenance-free and suited for various applications such as :

Visually effective light
Induction surpasses all existing performance of traditional white
light sources
Many people who see induction lights comment on how bright they appear
and on what they feel is a higher quality of light being emitted from the
fixtures. However, when individuals compare an induction light to a conventional lamp with a light meter, the induction lamp is generally measured as
producing less light than the conventional lamp.
Why is that? Today’s perception of lighting is generally based
on yesterday’s technology.
Today lighting is mostly measured using 1951 standards when using a light
meter. This standard used to set the sensitivity curve of light meters does not
take into account the contribution of Scotopic (night vision) to the sensitivity of the eye. Scientific studies have shown the eye is more sensitive to blue
wavelengths than the measurement curve of the light meter. Blue light, acting
on human night vision is largely responsible for “visual acuity” or sharpness of
vision.
A little bit of vocabulary
Photopic Vision is the scientific term for human color vision under normal
conditions during the day (i.e. human perception of red, green, and blue that
the brain integrates to form full color images of the world around us).
Scotopic Vision is the scientific term for human visual perception in low light.
Mesopic Vision is the combination between Photopic & Scotopic vision
taking into account the total sensitivity of the rod cells in the eye for the blue
range, with the color perception of the cone cells.
Extensive research has been conducted to better understand Mesopic vision,
more specific how Scotopic vision which stimulates the photoreceptors called
rods in the human eye to cause pupil contraction and increased visual acuity.
It was found that scotopically enhanced light appeared brighter even when
light levels were reduced; thus the potential to reduce wattage and improve
lighting.

Scotopic / Photopic ratios for
various light sources
The ratio of Photopic light vs Scotopic light in a lamp is called the S/P ratio.
This ratio determines the apparent visual brightness of a light source. This
is how we can explain that an induction 200W lamp will appear as bright or
brighter to the human eye than a sodium vapor or metal halide of twice the
wattage.

Induction VS HID Lighting
Scientists can argue back and forth about the acceptance of scotopic and
photopic vision and the S/P ratio; however the acceptance truly lies with
the consumer who is faced with increased energy costs, rising maintenance

10 year limited warranty
What this Warranty Covers and for How Long?
Stanpro Lighting systems warrants that the induction lamp system shall be free from defect in material and workmanship for the
time period below as measured from the date of manufacture stamped on the electronic ballast and lamp tube:
For fixtures shipped with induction lamp system the warranty will be as follows if the ambient temperature
(where the induction lamp system is to be running) does not exceed 40°C
(10) Years or 60,000 hours on the Induction Lamp and HX generator (whichever occurs first) *
The temperatures stated above shall be determined by installing the induction lamp system in the field. Stanpro shall
replace any defective induction lamp system at no charge. (provided that it is covered under the terms and conditions
of this limited warranty).
Any simulated field condition test concerning any induction lamp system which is claimed to be defective must be mutually
agreed upon in writing. Stanpro has the right of being notified and has the right to be represented at all such tests.
* 5 year complete limited warranty and 5 year additional pro-rata.
Warranty Conditions
Stanpro extends this limited warranty only to the original purchasers or end users. This is a complete warranty for the induction
lamp system and fixtures manufactured by Stanpro unless it is provided in a separate agreement between you and Stanpro.
Stanpro does not warrant the installation, maintenance, or service of the induction lamp system and fixtures. Stanpro shall not be
responsible for any ancillary equipment not furnished by Stanpro, which is attached to or used in connection with the induction
lamp system and fixtures, or for the operation of the induction lamp and the fixtures with any ancillary equipment. All such equipment should be excluded from this limited warranty.
Furthermore, Stanpro shall not be responsible for any damage to the induction lamp system and the fixtures resulting from the use
of any ancillary equipment not furnished by Stanpro for use with the induction lamp system and the fixtures.
What This Warranty Does Not Cover
This limited warranty is conditioned upon the proper storage, installation, use and maintenance of the induction lamp system and
fixtures, and conformance with any recommendations of Stanpro. Stanpro does not assume any labor costs in reference to the
induction lamp system or fixture. In particular, this limited warranty is not applicable to any induction lamp system which is not
installed and operated in accordance with the application guidelines.
How to Obtain Warranty Service?
If it appears within the time periods stated above from the date of manufacture that an installed induction lamp system and fixtures
does not meet the limited warranty set forth above, the purchaser shall notify Stanpro by the telephone: 1-866-280-2332 or by
email: service@stanprols.com, of its warranty claim, and after receiving proper authorization, return the defective induction lamp
system and the fixtures to the specified return location.
General Provisions
This limited warranty sets forth all of Stanpro’s responsibilities regarding the induction lamp system and the fixtures.
Limitations of Liability, under no circumstances, whether as a result of breach of contract, breach of warranty, strict liability or otherwise, will Stanpro not be liable for consequential, incidental, special or exemplary damages, including, but not limited to, loss of
profits, loss of use or damage to any property or equipment, cost of capital, cost of substitute product, facilities or services, down
time costs or claims from claimant’s customers.
Stanpro’s liability for all claims of any kind or for any loss or damages arising out of, resulting from or concerning any aspect of this
warranty or from the induction products or services furnished hereunder, shall not exceed the price of the specific induction lamp
system and the fixture products which gives right to the claim.
FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, ARE LIMITED TO THE DURATION OF THIS LIMITED WARRANTY. IN NO EVENT SHALL
STANPRO BE LIABLE FOR DAMAGES IN EXCESS OF THE PURCHASE PRICE OF THE INDUCTION LAMP SYSTEM AND
FIXTURE, FOR ANY LOSS OF USE, LOSS OF TIME, INCONVENIENCE, COMMERCIAL LOSS, LOST PROFITS OR SAVINGS
OR OTHER INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES ARISING OUT OF THE USE OR INABILITY TO USE
SUCH INDCUTION LAMP SYSTEM AND THE FIXTURE TO THE FULL EXTENT THAT SUCH MAY BE DISCLAIMED BY LAW.

Easy Installation and Maintenance

Vandal Proof and Designer Housing
The WPH-I front framed vandal resistant 12” square wall pack is suitable for
any wall application indoor or outdoor. The vandal resistant polycarbonate
lens renders this luminaire perfect for high abuse areas where security and
aesthetics may be combined.
Rugged die-cast aluminum housing and front frame with hood, chromate
conversion coating and textured bronze finish.
Lamp and ballast
To wall mount the luminaire directly over any 4” octagon outlet box or with
1/2” feed through surface conduit, simply open the front cover by removing 4 screws. Remove the reflector giving you full access to the universal
mounting pattern, and the ballast. Secure the housing to any wall surface
and complete the wiring.

The WPK-I Series Slimline Lux Cube luminaire is suitable for any indoor or
outdoor wall application. The WPK-I luminaire allows for maximum light
output while keeping annoying glare out of neighbor’s eyes.
A durable, bronze powder coat is applied to the rugged two-piece hinged
die-cast aluminum housing. The ballast is located above the optical chamber,
reducing heat generated in the optical chamber, thus optimizing lamp life.
The housing is fully gasketed to provide maximum protection against dust
and moisture.

The Slimline Lux Cube mounts with supreme ease. The luminaire is constructed with an integral electrical box. Simply open the door by removing
two screws. Loosen the integral electrical box and remove it from the keyhole
slots. Once the box is secured to the mounting surface, simply hang the
luminaire on the support screws, allowing both hands to be free to complete
your electrical connection, and secure the luminaire in place.
