Studio Lights Guide Photography Section Guidance & Operation Notes Overview Materials This guide should help you set up and operate the Studio Light set Please make use you have all the bits before starting and make sure you pack them away again on finishing NOTE: Bulbs get hot! Soft boxes can burn and bulbs deform! Switch off and allow lights to cool down for 3 minutes after every 30 minutes of use. Do not flash directly into the naked eye, especially babies Key words Test Button: Fires the flash without taking a photo. Also discharges the capacitor Charging Lamp: small indicator light above the Test button, if OFF = still charging. If ON = ready to fire Buzz Button and indicator light above: listen for ”BI” sound to indicate charged and ready. Indicator light = function is ON or OFF Model Button and indicator light above: light is on continuously, no flashing. Indicator light = function is ON or OFF NOTE: after 30minutes this will switch off by itself to prevent over heating. Allow 3min to cool and switch ON again. Optical Control and Anti-Preflash Button and indicator light above: three settings 1. 2. 3. No optical control: indicator light is OFF. Means the slave model is not on One fire: indicator light is BLUE. Means flash will fire on one external flash Anti-preflash: indicator light is RED. Means light will flash on second flash. Attach lights to light stand using brackets. Ensure they are tight and lights are at the desired angle Attach umbrella or soft box using brackets Connect AC power using adaptor Charging … Charging lamp is above test button. If off = still charging, if on = ready to fire Plug in either the sync cord or the trigger receiver. Check battery on trigger uses 12v/23a (transmitter) 2 AAA 1.5v (battery for receiver) Battery indicator light will flash if low. 7. Turn on the power switch on the receiver 8. Adjust the same state for the channel code switch on both the receiver and the transmitter, press the test button on the transmitter to check that you got it right. Transmitter indicator lamp and receiver indicator lamp with both turn red. Simultaneously the strobe will flash. 9. Attach the transmitter into the camera hot shoe mount. 10. Press the camera shutter, if this does not work, check your camera’s flash command settings, if you don’t know how to do this, check your camera manual.
