Superior Impact Strength
The high-impact strength polycarbonate material used in the manufacture of the 56
Series has a proven superior impact strength 56 Series is proven and tested to
operate in extreme temperatures from-40˚ to 55˚+
High Level of Switch Performance
It is important to be aware that there are major differences in standard specifications
used to specify switch motor ratings. Most of PDL’s 56 Series switches carry AC23A
and AC3 motor ratings to EN60947 and are capable of making up to 8 times and
breaking up to 10 times their rated current, which makes them suitable for DOL
switching of motors.
A motor kilowatt rating is also given for each switch size. Switches carrying an ‘M’
rating only have to pass a few operations at the M current stated, which is to prove
an equivalent to “locked rotor”, not motor switching.

For those environments where harsh chemicals are used such as abbatoirs, dairy
and food processing industries, plastic with special chemical resistant properties is
required. PDL’s chemically–resistant orange and white 56 Series has been developed
with leading plastic material suppliers and has been tried and proven, offering overall
greater resistance to chemical attack than common plastic materials. These products
are easily distinguished from standard 56 Series “electric grey” units by their
industrial orange and white colours. In these harsh environments, you cannot do
better than a specialist chemically resistant product - anything else is not worth the
risk. For finer detail of specific aggressive chemical environments, contact your local
PDL representative.

Solvent Bonding Capability
Greater UV Resistance
PDL’s PVC enclosures are able to be solvent bonded to
standard PVC conduit fittings. Caution should always be
applied when silicon sealants are being used. Only use
recommeded silicon sealants: Dow Corning 732; Dow Corning
1080; Dow Corning 739 Plastic Adhesive; Selleys Window and
Glass Sealant. Any silicon sealant which states “Not for use
with some plastics” definately should not be used. If in doubt
contact your PDL representative.
Proven IP66 Protection
PDL’s 56 Series has been both laboratory tested and field
proven to offer a degree of weather protection to IP66 (see
below).
56 Series socket outlets in particular have a patented selflocking latch feature to ensure that this degree of protection is
maintained when the product is not in use - a feature not
found with comparable product. This means that even when a
56 Series socket outlet is hosed down with a high pressure
hose in industry for example, the socket flap will remain
latched, ensuring its IP66 protection is maintained.

Full Range of Matching Gear
PDL’s 56 Series accessories can be matched throughout a
project with switches, socket outlets and switched socket
combinations, RCD outlets, a range of enclosures and blank
lids, plus the associated plugs. The Series covers single and
three phase accessories, 3-pin to 7-pin 10A to 20A sockets,
3-pin to 5-pin 32A to 50A sockets and 10A to 63A switches.
Modules Make Assembly Simple
Based upon a standard 100 x 100 mm module for all platetype accessories,
PDL’s 56 Series lets you build up any combination from a
simple switch or socket outlet to a full nine-gang switching
station, power outlet centre or custom electrical/electronic
assembly using modules and one of a wide range of matching
enclosures. Matching blank lids can enclose delicate
switchgear or be modified to carry custom panel equipment.

After years of service exposed to very high UV conditions, it
has become accepted that PDL’s 56 Series offers excellent
protection against UV discolouration and degradation - a
higher degree of protection than comparable products.
Products in the Series feature large capacity terminals, big,

pre-wiring.

mount two 56 Series single gang products
in a fully enclosed, portable unit so you can
hang up your power supply.
A divider separates the two mounted
products and produces a seal to ensure the
IP66 rating.
In the interests of user convenience, the
enclosure features finger recesses for
holding while unplugging the plug from
the socket.
They have a strong, large loop for attaching
a chain, as well as angled cable entry for
ease of wiring.
