Most of PDL’s 56 Series switches carry AC23A and AC3 motor ratings to EN60947 and are capable of making up to 8 times and breaking up to 10 times their rated current, which makes them suitable for DOL switching of motors. A motor kilowatt rating is also given for each switch size. Switches carrying an ‘M’ rating only have to pass a few operations at the M current stated, which is to prove an equivalent to “locked rotor”, not motor switching. PDL’s chemically–resistant orange and white 56 Series has been developed with leading plastic material suppliers and has been tried and proven, offering overall greater resistance to chemical attack than common plastic materials. These products are easily distinguished from standard 56 Series “electric grey” units by their industrial orange and white colours. In these harsh environments, you cannot do better than a specialist chemically resistant product - anything else is not worth the risk. NEW ZEALAND MADE Page 2 Solvent Bonding Capability Greater UV Resistance PDL’s PVC enclosures are able to be solvent bonded to standard PVC conduit fittings. Caution should always be applied when silicon sealants are being used. Only use recommeded silicon sealants: Dow Corning 732; Dow Corning 1080; Dow Corning 739 Plastic Adhesive; Selleys Window and Glass Sealant. Any silicon sealant which states “Not for use with some plastics” definately should not be used. If in doubt contact your PDL representative. Proven IP66 Protection PDL’s 56 Series has been both laboratory tested and field proven to offer a degree of weather protection to IP66 (see below). 56 Series socket outlets in particular have a patented selflocking latch feature to ensure that this degree of protection is maintained when the product is not in use - a feature not found with comparable product. This means that even when a 56 Series socket outlet is hosed down with a high pressure hose in industry for example, the socket flap will remain latched, ensuring its IP66 protection is maintained.
