E . INSTALLATION GUIDE
STEP 1 - Connecting Power to the Transmitter
Plug the power adapter into a nearby electrical outlet or surge protector and plug the
other end of the power adapter into the “DC 5V” slot of the transmitter.
STEP 2 – Connecting to TV or other audio source
Only ONE of these connections should be used to receive sound. Using multiple connections together may
cause interference.
Option 1: Connect using Optical Cable
Option 2: Connect using RCA/Analog Cables
Option 3: Connect directly to your Cable or Satellite Box
Option 4: Connect through your TV Headphone Jack
Option 1: Connect using Optical Cable (See Figure. 1)
Remove the protective tip from each end of the optical cable and plug one end into the
“Optical” port on the transmitter. Next, connect the other end of the optical cable into to
“Digital Output” or “Optical” port on your television, cable or satellite box.
Option 2: Connect using RCA/Analog Cables (See Figure. 2)
Connect the single-plug end of the audio cables (3.5mm plug) into the “Audio In” slot of
the transmitter. Next, connect the dual-plug ends (red & white male ends) into the
“Audio Out” ports located on the back or side of your television, cable or satellite box.
Make sure the white and red ports on your television are indeed “Audio Out” and NOT
“Audio In”. If it does not state “Audio Out” next to the port, than the connection is
“Audio In”, which will not transmit sound.

Note: Check all sides of your television, cable or satellite box if you are unable to locate the Audio Out ports
on your device. Note: not all televisions have audio out ports. If your television only has a coaxial connection,
you will need a coaxial cable. (which we can provide) For assistance with setting up your system, call (800)
991-6207 to speak with a TrueDio® Representative.
If Your Television Does Not Have Audio Out Ports:
Option 3: Connect directly to your Cable or Satellite Box (This will only
transmit sound from your Cable or Satellite Box and not from other devices
connected to your TV)
Most cable/satellite box’s will have audio out ports located on the back. The connection
will be the same as connecting to a television source. Refer to RCA/Analog Cable:
Figure. 2 (page 6) on how to connect your TrueDio system with RCA/Analog cables.
Option 4: Connect through your TV Headphone Jack (This will eliminate TV
Audio) (See Figure. 3)
The headphone jack will be located on the back, side, or front of the television based on
the model of television. Connect the single-plug end of the audio cables (3.5mm plug)
into the “Audio In” slot of the transmitter. Next, connect the dual-plug ends (red &
white male ends) into the RCA to 3.5mm plug adapter (red and white female ends). You
will be left with one male end that will be connected directly into the headphone jack of
your television.

STEP 3 - Charge Headset Prior to Use
Verify that all plugs are securely in place and that the transmitter is located
within range. Next, turn and power on your transmitter by sliding power
switch on the back of the transmitter to the Mono or Stereo position. The
green power indicator will light up confirming power is on. Next, firmly
place your headset in the transmitter charging dock for 3-5 hours to fully
charge the battery prior to use. (See Transmitter Charging Base Lights
section for more information)
STEP 4 – Power On and Use Headset
Power on your headset by sliding the power switch to the “ON”
position. The blue power indicator will light up confirming power is on. A
solid blue light confirms that the headset is receiving an audio signal from
the transmitter. The blue light will blink if the headset is not receiving an
audio signal, in which you should verify that your audio source and
TrueDio Ears are turned to the ON position, and all connections are
securely in place.
You are now ready to use your TrueDio® Ears! Simply adjust the volume
and tone to your preferred levels and enjoy!
STEP 5 – Power Off Headset
Power off your headset by sliding the power switch to the “OFF” position.
The blue power indicator light will turn off confirming the power is off. In
the event that you forget to power off your headset, the headset will
automatically power off after 3 minutes of audio inactivity to conserve
battery life. Once the headset turns off after inactivity, it will NOT turn
back on automatically. Power off your headset completely then turn it back
ON.

G .Transmitter Charging Base Lights
When charging the headsets insure that the headsets are turned OFF. Firmly
snap the headsets into the charging slots. Once the headsets are in place, turn
the headsets ON and then back OFF to begin the charging process.
o Left indicator light will turn green when charging a headset in the front
charging slot.
o Left indicator light will turn red when charging a headset in the back
charging slot.
o Left indicator light will turn orange (green & red together) when charging
both headsets in the charging slots at the same time.
o If the left indicator light does not turn on, the headsets are fully charged.
Note: Indicator light may fail to turn on or fade out once headset is placed on charging dock to conserve power. This
will NOT affect the charging of the headsets. As long as the headsets are snapped firmly into the charging slots, they
will be fully charged after 3-5 hours. If they fail to hold a charge after 3-5 hours of charging, batteries may need to be
replaced.

H. FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS - FAQ
Q1. Why am I not getting any audio?
First, check and confirm that all power and cable connections are securely in
place. Next, confirm that the power switch on both the headset and transmitter
are turned to the “ON” position and that the power indicator lights on both the
headset and transmitter are illuminated. If the Green transmitter power
indicator light is not illuminated when powered “ON”, then the transmitter is
likely not plugged in securely. Check connections and try again. If the
transmitter power indicator light is illuminated and the headset power indicator
light “Blinks” when powered “ON”, it’s likely an issue regarding improper
connection.
With RCA/ANALOG Cable
Check audio source (TV, Satellite or Cable Box) connections to verify
they are plugged into an “Audio Out” port not an “Audio In” port. Review
Step 2 on connection details. If the headset power indicator light is off
when powered “ON”, then the headset battery is dead and will need to be
recharged or replaced.
With OPTICAL/DIGITAL Cable
Make sure the protective tips from each end of the optical cable are
removed. Depending on your television model, you may need to go into
the audio settings of your television and activate the digital optical
connection. You may need to reference your TV manual or contact your
TV manufacturer for assistance.
Q2. Why do I hear television audio when watching a DVD or video?
When the audio cords are connected to your cable or satellite box, the TrueDio
Ears will not transmit sound from accessories connected to your TV. Connect
your TrueDio Ears directly to your TV to get sound from your DVD player.
