OFFICE OF COOPERATIVE EDUCATION AND CAREER SERVICES www.rit.edu/recruit ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING TECHNOLOGY www.rit.edu/cast/ectet PROGRAM OVERVIEW FOR EMPLOYERS The Bachelor of Science program in Electrical Engineering Technology is designed to meet the growing needs for engineering professionals in a rapidly changing society. Students are provided the opportunity to become knowledgeable in the practical application of mathematical and scientific principles in the field of electrical engineering. Graduates of this program can analyze a problem, design an electrical solution, and implement the solution using current technology. The 5-year curriculum includes more than one year of related engineering experience gained through cooperative education employment. Students can choose a degree option in audio or telecommunications. Degree(s) Awarded Accreditation Bachelor of Science Degree (5 year program, includes one year of co-op) The Electrical Engineering Technology program is accredited by the Technology Accreditation Commission of ABET, Inc., www.abet.org. Enrollment Approximately 140 students enrolled full-time. Cooperative Education Component Students are available for two 6-7month assignments. Student Skills & Capabilities The program teaches students to master the fundamentals of electronics and then apply them to improve existing technology. Students are skilled in troubleshooting and analysis of problems, design of electrical solutions and implementation of solutions using current technology. Students work with state-of-the-art equipment and in sophisticated laboratories that allow for significant hands-on experience. Students complete a minimum of 14 laboratory-based courses within the Electrical, Computer & Telecommunications Engineering Technology Department. Computer Skills: C++, object oriented programming and the ability to use software packages, i.e. Microprocessor & Microcontroller programming languages, PSPICE, MATLAB, VHDL, Digital Signal Processing.
