The courses are aligned to SAQA/NQF Unit Standards and are aimed at those who have never used a computer before or who have little knowledge or experience with computers. COURSE INFORMATION Introduction to Information & Communications Technology: (Unit Standard 117925) Concepts of ICT, Windows, Office, Network, Typing Skills 1. ICT Concepts Which is based on the unit standard 117925 - Describe the concepts of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and the use of its components in a healthy and safe manner. The level of the Unit Standard is Level 2 and the Credit Value is 3 credits and you should therefore spend approximately 30 notional hours on this Unit. Notional hours are the total number of hours that you could spend on this module and could combine learning, practising, self-evaluation, exercises and applying what you have learnt in your own work environment. The total credits for this module is 4 credits which means that you should therefore spend approximately 40 notional hours on this module. Time spent could be a combination of classroom study, learning, practising, exercises and applying what you have learnt in a working environment. PURPOSE People credited with these unit standards are able to: Understand the concepts and terms of electronic messaging Create and send an E-mail message Receive and respond to e-mails Print an E-mail message Work with multiple E-mail messages Adjust settings to customise the view and preferences of the Email application Explain legal, ethical and organisational issues in relation to the use of Email Manage E-mail messages. Use the address book facilities of electronic mail applications. LEARNING ASSUMED TO BE IN PLACE The credit value of this unit standard is calculated assuming a person is competent in the following: Mathematical literacy and communication skills at least at NQF Level 1. Operate a personal computer system (ID 116932 - NQF Level 1). Use generic functions in a Graphical User Interface (GUI)-environment (ID 117902 - NQF Level 1). Read, write, communicate and comprehend at least at GET level Use electronic mail to send and receive messages COURSE STARTING DATES & TIMES Classes are daily from Mondays to Saturdays. The class session is 2 hours per day between 08:30am-10:30, 10:30am-12:30pm, and 13:00pm15:00pm. COURSE DURATION: The duration of the course is 3 Month. COURSE FEE: R 1200-00 Cash Fee; Deposit payable on registration & balance on completion of course & certification.
