Safe6 – Confined & Restricted Space – Training Opportunities Unit Standard No Description of Training Level Credits Plan a Confined Space Entry - This is for experienced people who are required to work safely in confined spaces. Participants will be able to identify hazards and controls within confined spaces, develop an emergency procedure plan, and complete 4 5 documentation required for a confined space entry. Demonstrate Knowledge of Hazards Associated with Confined Space - Participants will be able to demonstrate knowledge of confined spaces and permit notification and implementation requirements, identify control measures to eliminate, isolate, 18426 3 4 and minimise the risk of hazards in confined spaces, demonstrate knowledge of monitoring and confined space testing requirements, and describe responsibilities and duties of people entering confined spaces or conducting observation duties. Demonstrate Knowledge of Safety Observer Responsibilities in the Workplace - Participants will be able to identify criteria 17596 where the Safety Observer is required to control, monitor and maintain safety for activity, hazardous environments and 3 8 activities requiring safety observer control, the safety observer responsibilities, and emergency response measures. Operate an Atmospheric Testing Device to Determine a Suitable Atmosphere Exists to Work Safely - Participants will be 25510 able to demonstrate knowledge of atmospheric testing in potentially hazardous environments, conduct atmospheric tests, 3 4 and interpret and respond to atmospheric testing results. Issue Worksite Specific Work Permits – Participants will be able to explain work permit procedures, ensure the need for a 17590 3 6 permit is correctly identified and the site prepared accordingly, issue a permit; monitor, close and audit permits. Apply for, Accept and Carry Out Work According to a Work Permit in the Workplace Participants credited with this unit standard will be able to explain the types of work permits, the roles of those involved in 17588 the permit system, and the requirements for receiving a permit, explain the preparatory requirements when applying for a 3 4 permit, accept a permit and undertake work under the permit, and describe and carry out the controls and actions to be taken at the end of a work period or upon the completion of work. Perform Specialist Rescue in Confined Space - People credited with this unit standard are able to: demonstrate knowledge of 14562 the requirements for safe working practices in confined spaces; select and operate equipment for rescues from confined 4 6 spaces; carry out specialised rescues in confined spaces; and re-commission confined space equipment and complete reports.
