RENTAL REQUIREMENTS
1. Light + Byte rents the equipment at the quoted rates in our rental list. All rates include the local tax (8%), and are based on personal
pick up with a valid, state-approved ID. Light + Byte reserves the right to ask for a deposit. Prices are subject to change.
2. Rates are quoted per calendar day, which is also the shortest possible rental period. The earliest possible pick up is 5:00 pm on the evening of
the actual rental day, and latest possible drop off is 9:00 am the day following the last rental day (rental staff will confirm effective date and time).
3. The rental fee remains the same even if the the equipment is returned early.
4. If the equipment is returned late Light + Byte will charge a full day for each day, or part of the day, that the equipment is returned late. Your return time is
noted on the rental agreement, and binding. Unforeseen extensions need the prior consent of the rental team, and need to be cleared ahead of time.
Rent discounts:
5 consecutive days: -20%
14 consecutive days: -30%
21 consecutive days: -50%
Weekend special:
Pickup Friday at 4:00 pm, Return Monday by 9:00 am = 1 day charge
5. 24 hour notice is required for all cancellations, or you will be charged one full day in penalties for the entire order. Our written email confirmation holds as a valid contract
between Light + Byte and the client.
6. By signing the Light + Byte contract the client confirms the receipt of his/her complete order, and acknowledges the faultless condition of the equipment. The client is solely responsible for
any damage to the equipment, even damage incurred by third party transportation to and from Light + Byte.
7. Deliveries via Postal Services are possible, and the charges will be invoiced to the client. Transit time counts as rental time; we therefore
advise clients to use the Express delivery Service. New clients can not receive equipment delivered by Post.
8. All equipment is thoroughly checked by Light + Byte before delivery, and upon return. Repair of defects and functional disorders will be charged to the client. Light + Byte is not liable for
damages caused directly or indirectly by failure of the rented equipment.
9. Light + Byte AG remains the unrestricted owner of all renting equipment. Pledge, chattel mortgage, sale or transfer of the equipment is strictly prohibited.
10. The contract and any amendments included constitute the agreement between Light + Byte and the client. Place of execution and legal domicile for any and all disputes is Zurich,
Switzerland.
11. Insurance of the rented merchandise value is mandatory unless the client has personal insurance. The insurance fee (0.42%) is based on the total value of the rented equipment.
Attention: common household insurances usually DO NOT cover rental equipment.
The All-risk insurance covers any rental agreement/items with a value over CHF 850.00 against repair and damages. Each clients deductible is CHF 800.00 per insurance claim
and damaged item. The insurance protection starts when the client leaves the premises of Light + Byte, and ends with the return of the rented equipment to the Light + Byte premises.
Exclusions: Excluded from the rental insurance are war or risks of war, incidents of nuclear energy, confiscation or prohibition by public authorities, climatic influences,
malicious damages, loss, contamination or damages caused by negligent handling of the equipment. In case of theft the local authorities, as well as Light + Byte, have to
be informed immediately, and an official report has to be filed with the police. In case of accidental damages a short, concise description of events is sufficient.
12. Our flash generators may only be operated by Progas2 and other emergency generators we deem voltage stabilized and short-circuit proof. Please ask for a current list.
Over-voltage damages are excluded from the insurance.
13. We replace worn bulbs regularly. We don’t charge for spare lamps if burnt-out bulbs are returned. We will charge for missing or broken lamps, broken filaments, and excessive burnouts.
14. Damages demonstrably caused by humidity are not insured.
INSURANCE POLICY
Insured Goods
The insurance covers rented photographic and video goods in circulation such as:
- Digital (Cameras, Scanner, Computers, Monitors)
- Audio and Projection equipment
- Photo and video cameras (analog and digital)
- Special Effects and accessories
- Lighting equipment including tungsten and daylight light sources
The equipment needs to be listed explicitly in the rental agreement.
Rental Period
The maximum rental time per rental agreement is 6 months.
Geographic scope of application
Worldwide
Extent of insurance coverage
- Forcible external effects (as per C1 AVB AXA 03.2013)
- External effects and internal causes (as per C2 AVB AXA 03.2013)
- Fire and elementary events
- Theft
Security Regulations
Following security regulations must be complied with at all times for any rented equipment:
- If equipment is stored in a vehicle, securely close and lock all windows and doors if vehicle is left unattended.
- Make sure none of the insured items are visible, and safely stowed away in the locked trunk. Insurance doesn’t cover items that were in full display, or left in an unlocked vehicle.
- Please remove all equipment from the vehicle during layovers exceeding 6 hours. Insurance does not cover equipment left in any vehicle between the hours of 07.00pm-07.00am.
Equipment is only covered during this period if all items are under constant personal supervision, or kept within locked rooms of a secure building.
Non-compliance with these regulations frees the insurer of all duties to perform.
Exclusions
Excluded from the insurance are:
Theft or loss at the domicile of the renter of the Light + Byte AG.
There is no insurance coverage at the domicile of the Light + Byte AG (exception: if the renter is staying at the rental photo-studio within the Light + Byte location)
Loss, development or the data recovery from data carriers.

Transport Insurance
Transports are insured if the following regulations are fully complied with:
Postal deliveries within Switzerland and Principality of Lichtenstein:
- Letters and Packages, delivery only with acknowledgment of receipt, or
- SecurePost
Postal deliveries to and from foreign countries:
- PostPac International
- Swiss Post GLS-Packages
- Registered Mail
- Deliveries via Courier, Express and Package Services against acknowledgment of receipt
